The huge and majestic Maine state ferry that goes to Vinalhaven Island. The “Captain Neal Burgess.” In for maintenance . Boat hulls have to be gone over and repainted regularly. I watch owners around here with small sailboat spending weeks or months every year doing just that. I would never want to own a boat. A boat ferry, a long and hard bicycle ride, and eventually an hour of drawing at Brown point light on Vinalhaven Island. This is an island about 12 miles off the coast from Rockland, Maine, where I live. These two wonderful old captains houses are on Vinalhaven, an island about 12 miles out to sea from my house. Me and @bjornrunquistart took the ferry out there for a nice day of painting. A passerby told me the house I sketched used to be used as a church.
