You look like someone in a dire need of a custom OC ask. Now, give me something in every colour of the rainbow that you associate with an Oc. Bonus points for black and white.
I'm always in a dire need for asks, even though it takes me forever to reply to them *;_;* Thanks you!
OK, I'll go with Broken Mirrors, because I miss writing it.
RED - blood on Shavli's hands as she conducts yet another experiment regarding Veldak fertility.
ORANGE - the colour of a kitten Amalie had when she was very young. The first living being she has ever kissed. She really shouldn't have, but nobody knew that.
GREEN - Kirara's eyes. Just like her mother's. Everyone's been telling her that recently. When will they stop? She would be perfectly fine not knowing.
BLUE - the hair of Kirara's childhood friend's, drenched with sweat as she strokes it helplessly. Why doesn't he wake up? What kind of healing does he need?
INDIGO - the colour of night sky right before Keilli's travelling companions got killed. The last thing she can remember from that night. Why can't she recall anything else?
VIOLET - the dress Amalie was wearing when she got kidnapped. Really needs some cleaning.
BLACK - the scarf that covers Aldin Flenne's face. His bandit trademark. Did you expect that when giving it to him, Ahlit?
WHITE - a rose that Kirara gave to Drev one evening when she felt distressed and needed comfort. Neither of them regretted it at that very moment, but they would later.
The 'get to know...' thing: 11, 12, 25, 39, 45, 49 for the witchie; 8, 29, 31, 40, 47, 48 for the antagonist; 3, 15, 42, 44, 46 for your Watcher; 2, 7, 24, 43, 50 for Silly-face.
The witchie and the antagonist still need some work, so:
Kirara:
11. What is something that would make your character fly into a rage?
Being used for someone else’s goals. Her friends being hurt. Her mentor being kept in a dungeon *blows kisses at Ithel*
12. Is there some particular talent, skill, or attribute that they simply could not give up?
Well, she firmly believes she has acting skills, but it would make no difference if she gave them up :P She would never give up her magic, though. That’s what defines her and that’s what her mentor taught her. And, well, that’s what she’s actually good at.
25. Is there something traumatic from your character’s past that greatly affects them even to this day?
Her mother left her in an orphanage right after she was born and it kind of makes her feel unwanted. And much later her mentor took off and went adventuring and didn’t take her along, so it made her even more unwanted.
45. Is your character the kind to hide their true emotions or do they wear their heart on their sleeve?
She tries her best to hide anger or fear, but when she bottles them up, they sometimes just… blow up.
49. What is something that your character has nightmares about? Are these frequent? Do they heavily affect your character’s mood?
Ever since she touched Ithel’s magic staff and heard it scream, those screams have been occasionally coming back in her dreams. Some visions of the past have come along too. It’s not going to end well.
Ithel:
08. What is, perhaps, their biggest flaw? Are they aware of this or oblivious to it?
He insists he means well, but he keeps dangerous people at his side nonetheless and they sure don’t mean well. For now he lets it pass, because “the end justifies the means” and “revolution is never peaceful”, but he’s getting close to losing his patience. By then it may be too late, though.
29. What is one of the most courageous things your character has ever done for a loved one?
If by “a loved one” you mean his late mentor, then, well, he did his best to make her proud. Which means he tried to break the curse that had made him and the other Chosen Ones (they need a better name) what they are. He’s still trying. If you mean… someone else, then… The most courageous thing would be give up his revolution. Not sure if he’s ready for that just yet.
31. Would your character be the kind capable of killing? Would they enjoy killing or only use it when necessary or, perhaps, refuse to kill no matter what?
He’s definitely capable of killing, either when it’s necessary or when he’s really pissed off. He doesn’t really enjoy it much, though.
40. Does your OC have any guilty pleasures they enjoy? Hobbies, past times, music, etc that they wouldn’t want known by others?
Parties, festivities and all the occasions when he can unleash his inner dork. However, he believes that 1) he’s too old for fooling around (and when he was younger, he was either studying magic or being captured and tortured and didn’t have much time for fun, ok); 2) he has important things to do and no time for fooling around; 3) he’s a dark and powerful warlock, dammit! Seriously, appearing more human in front of his own people wouldn’t do him any harm…
47. Is your character outgoing? Would they be the leader of the friend group, or the quiet one that gets dragged along?
He is. And he would totally hold all the parties.
48. Is there anything in particular that would ignite your character’s jealousy? Or does your character not get envious?
He literally started his revolution out of envy I mean, nope, not at all.
When you're a promising young witchie who got a book from your mentor as a parting gift, and that book is supposed to contain some super amazing knowledge of magic, but refuses to cooperate and reveal it to you, no matter what you do... then what do you do? Do you try reaching out to other mages and ask them for advice? Or are you driven by your own spite ambition and try your best to figure out the book all by yourself?...
What did you do, witchie?
I'm asking, because I see you three years later, and your book is still empty, and you seem to have given up on it and wallow in self-pity.
Should I include some extra explanation or perhaps overwrite some scenes?...
What's the favorite beginning of a story you have written?
The one where a young nobleman with no adventuring experience comes to an inn, looking for potential party members and when he leaves, people start randomly dying in their own blood.
Summarize your fics, but badly (wait... is there any other way?)! Tagged by @allaganexarch, who’s got a lot of fics to choose from, unlike yours truly - I’m gonna try my best, though (*•̀ᴗ•́*)و ̑̑
No known answers - a girl seeks secrets, sees souls and makes questionable decisions while looking fabulous all the time.
Reunions - two surrogate sisters reunite after five years and have stuff to talk about.
Losers - a stubborn cranky lass deals with other stubborn people in her own charming way.
Days in Crimson - a broken heroine on the run from reality focuses on stealing her disturbingly attractive mentor’s hat and hugging the new daughter.
Broken Mirrors - a group of emotional disasters gets in the middle of generational conflict while ancient magic is running wild.
Tagging @rannadylin, @risualto, @listenforthelove and anyone who feels bad at summarizing their stories :>
What's a clever/funny/cool AU that someone, maybe you, could write of your WIP?
I’m sure I’ve already written about a Coffee Shop AU for Broken Mirrors and I’m also sure someone else could take the story and the characters somewhere else entirely, but you know what I would like the most? Something that’s actually funny. A comedy or maybe a parody of a fantasy adventure, something light-hearted and clever. I got inspired to write while laughing at a series of silly films and thus I wouldn’t mind laughing all the time while writing. Or reading.
Write the opening of a story with this title: Under A Lonely Star
Now listen!
You may not believe it, but there was a time - long, long ago - when Mau the Bastard of Fate did manage to steal all the stars we can see from down here!... All but one. He only kept them for two nights and a day; no one even remembers it these days, except one ancient dragon who told me this story in exchange for a shiny trinket.
See, Mau once took advantage of the weather, when all the night sky was full of clouds; even the Shepherd of the Stars could not see her flock clearly, and people only noticed when the night ended, but the sun did not rise.
Such a dreadful dark night it was, for the gods and the mortals both! The Shepherd immediately gave chase to the trickster, but she would never find the stolen stars, for he hid them in a secret stash... But what’s this? One star was so tiny and shining so faintly that he overlooked her! She was left all alone in the big dark sky and her light was not enough to illuminate the world.
“I need to release the flock,” she said to herself, for there was no one else there to hear her. “But I can’t do it all alone! What should I do?”
And so she began to shine as intensely as she could, but no one below noticed her; all bereaved and mourning the other stars, except one young boy, who was staring at the sky.
“What are you doing there all alone?” he asked. “What happened to all other stars?”
“They have been stolen,” she explained; her voice was a thin whisper only he could hear. “I want to search for them, but I cannot leave the sky. Could you please help me down? All you need is a black thread and the Shepherd’s secret word, which is near impossible to utter.”
“I can at least try. I can imitate any sound I hear,” the boy said simply and without pride.
“Splendid! I believe the thief has hidden the stars underground. If I light the way, will you carry me and help me look for them?”
“Of course. I don’t like it when the sky is so dark.”
“Thank you!” The star exclaimed with relief. “But what if someone tries to stop you or cries after you’re gone?”
“I’m all alone, just like you,” the boy shrugged, “so no one will even notice.”
Sketch out a story with a side-character as the main protagonist.
Nearly every side character of Broken Mirrors deserves their own story and there are... a lot of them, but let’s make it about Niladru today, shall we?
Niladru, along with his down-to-earth wizard apprentice/assistant, lives rent-free with one of the secondary characters who’s a skilled artificer and may help him out of his trouble. Because he’s a dragon sealed in a human form, you see. Once he got an ancient relic for his hoard of shiny trinkets and it was magical, and he accidentally activated it… And after the damage was done, he kind of sort of broke the relic in an attempt to undo it. Now all he can do is wait for the artificer to fix it, but instead, she seems more intent on encouraging him and his assistant to kiss. Because she firmly believes the true love’s kiss can undo any curse. Totally not because she just wants to see two guys kiss, nuh-uh.
Niladru’s human form has blue hair, wears flamboyant clothes and lots of jewellery, but has basically no face expressions. Or intonation. His way of speaking is creepy monotonous and he moves like he’s in an uncomfortable costume - because that’s what the current form is for him and he’s not going to learn how to act human, purely out of spite.
So, the story would be about the dragon waiting patiently (in his own mind) for help, the artificer trying to help him in her own way and the assistant glaring daggers at her. It would be a comedy with a pinch of drama and not a slightest bit of romance XD
