The Maintenance Grant for students pursuing postgraduate course is calculated using your total unearned income for the current pursuing academic year and your partner /civil partner's / spouse (if applicable) gross residual income for the current or last tax year. It really riles me when tories tell the poor that they need to go to university to ‘better themselves’ while making it increasingly harder for poorer people to go to university
The maintenance grant gets replaced with the loan. You still get given the same amount of money, how are people not grasping this?

SIGN. So many people will be unable to get further education due to lack of funds, it's crucial that we try to stop the maintenance loan from being cut out altogether.
Prevent the scrapping of the maintenance grant.
