maisie absolutely hated events like these. the main reason she’d followed a career in print journalism rather than becoming a news reporter or presenter like people said she should was because with print, no-one saw your face. you didn’t have to get dressed up & present yourself in public like a ‘lady’. or at least, she’d assumed she didn’t have to. what she hadn’t factored in were events like these – movie premieres, opening ceremonies, events where she’d get noticed even more so if she wasn’t dressed up. stepping out of the taxi provided by her boss, she clung to her notepad as she teetered on her heels & frantically pulled down the dress that seemed a little too short. she’d always resent her parents for passing on their leggy genes. almost as soon as she was out of the taxi, she felt the flash of cameras behind her, & as she spun round to see who the photographers had gotten excited about, she collided with the man in question, sending her wobbling on already unstable footwear. “oh god, i’m so sorry!” bloody hell, so it begins.
