I don't believe in piling on a cluster f*ck of vintage jewelry to distract ones eye from my actual outfit. Don't get it twisted, I LOVE vintage... love going to flee markets and vintage shops in search of one of a kind gems rather than buying everything in stock. I like to be more selective, choosing only the pieces that are beautiful enough to stand alone or with minimal accessories achieving a polished elegant look. I bought this necklace for $40 in a vintage shop off Abbot Kinney boulevard in Venice Beach, CA. Love love love vintage shopping in Venice.

Today, the sun was shinning and so was my outfit! To achieve my flirty take on the season's ladylike trend, try mixing a bright hued volume skirt with a patterned bright top like I did above. My jacket brings an elegant grace to my look and does a great job breaking up the color. No one wants to look like a rainbow! I had a great day shooting with Tess laughing about the evolution of our styles over the past 8 years. It was fun to shoot on the fire escape, I swear none of the offices around us were working while we were "working." Lesson of the day- wearing heels on your fire escape should be done with extra precaution... I would be very upset if I tore my satin pumps... let alone broke an ankle! This outfit can take you to brunch, a luncheon, a day party, even a late night soiree!

Saving The Society in Style

All summer long we NYC fashionistas long for crisp autumn weather, an opportunity to layer our fall wardrobes, adding and removing pieces as we jump on and off the subway, managing our determined planners. Then as the cold front settles in, we long for the spring weather and revel in the little warm moments Mother Nature provides. The entire process of yearning the next season rather than being present in each season seems rather ironic to me, although each year I continue in the same pattern. Well today, rather the warm day last week, I got it. I got that taste of warmth and a yearning for spring weather; I reveled in the assumed feeling of spring. I spent my day strolling the streets of Nolita with my dear pal, Gavin Doyle, wandering up and down the avenues until reaching one of my absolute favorite lunch places, Lovely Day! Is it coincidental that the name of the restaurant happened to match my overall feeling on the day? This Vanessa Traina silk and lace thin strap V-neck camisole top is one my favorite pieces to layer. Although it is designed to be worn in the privacy of your own home, I simply will not have that! I found the blouse while shopping around London this past summer, before Maje was introduced in the states. I decided to layer the Maje multicolor blouse on top of my Traina camisole; the Maje piece has a subtle, yet unique, touch of navy blue hue down the forearm. My pants, which might I mention are the perfect shade of green, I picked up from Zara. Zara offers great classic pieces at a great buy, allowing you to wear and layer their pieces season after season; the pants have given me a lot of bang for my buck, the cost-per-wear ratio proves it (for those of you fashion school grads, like myself, it may be better known as the P/U ratio!)
