1) Ben Howard - I Forget Where We Were
Autumn is upon us, but that doesn’t mean we have to let go of summer just yet in Southern California (just don’t go outside past 5pm to keep up this illusion). Ben Howard comes through with visuals for his compelling song and title track from his second LP “I Forget Where We Were.”
2) Pleasure State - Ghost in the System
This one gave me a flashback to the late 80’s - early 90’s europop sound that made me wanna grow up so fast and go to one of those parties that plays this music (it wasn’t as great as I made it to be in my head). Nonetheless, the feeling that music gives me lives on. It more than likely beats within you, too.
3) Made in Heights - Ghosts
I feel like my whole week was a love song disguised within the dance hall. Another track I spun all week is from the L.A. duo Made in Heights. A well-placed cowbell in a UK garage backbeat with a trip-hop bridge sequence….yeah, this one hit the right spot for me.
4) Big K.R.I.T. - Lost Generation ft. Lupe Fiasco
Young Krizzle’s major label debut has been in heavy rotation this week for my commute. Also, any time we can get insightful Lupe and not crazy Lupe, it’s a good day. This album bookend has been crazy inspirational for me. Hopefully it is the same for you. Peep game.
5) Straight No Chaser - Text Me Merry Christmas ft. Kristen Bell
The Season is upon us, and the smooth men that need no instrumentation is helping to usher it in with this VERY updated and appropriate original tune for the Holidays with some help from Ms. Princess Anna Sarah Veronica Mars-Marshall herself, Kristen Bell. Taylor Swift - Shake It Off (sutrose Remix)
The homie Ian de Borja's (under the pseudonym sutrose) been quietly working on his production craft up in the Bay, and the hard work is paying off. He actually got me to listen to Taylor Swift, which is no easy feat. Enjoy the downtempo rendition of the pop hit this week as you transition from the beginning to mid-week.
