my take on narinder getting his crown is that he got it when he was seconds away from dying.

and it wasn't like a "oh he was dying so the crown chose him" thing, it was a very desperate last ditch effort by shamura and kallamar to try and save their (still mortal) baby brother from death, they didnt want to lose him

it just feels very fitting to me that the god of death would've gotten his crown during a moment so close to the domain itself
