Rio De Janeiro has been a nightmare for the poor for decades and you are just now upset that someone has died because it meets your social quota. Fucking hypocrites.
No, we’re fucking not.
We’re not upset “just because” someone that meets our “social quota” (what the fuck does that even mean?) died.
We’re mad because a poor black woman fought her whole damn life to make that nightmare you talk about a little better.
We’re mad because she beat all odds, she fought all kinds of oppression within her own life - and only so that she could fight for more oppressed people. We’re mad because she fought for all these people you say you care about so much. We’re mad because she was one of the only ones to do so.
And she got shot. Four times. In the head.
More likely than not, by the people who are supposed to protect us.
More likely than not, because she was investigating them and trying to make that nightmare you talk about for all the other poor people a little better.
We’re mad because this woman represented one of the very few people in this country who was fighting to make a difference - fighting so that every single one of those “poor people living nightmares” were heard and had better lives. She made everything right, she followed all the rules, she studied her whole life, she got elected fair and square (and as one of the most voted people in Rio, too!) - she was doing her job. She was doing an important, great job. And she got killed for that. Marielle was assassinated.
That’s what we’re upset about. And we’re not the hypocrites here.
