Lore dump:

I’ll take this opportunity to dive into them a bit… this quote would refer to both of them. Makarius cannot escape his past, that’s like almost his whole thing. That he cannot accept things that had happened to him and move on from them so he becomes his worst version of himself. After meeting Salo, and after many struggles of accepting his presence in his life he realises that salo brings out his past self in him. He grows hate towards that but cannot deny he feels dependant and loving towards this feeling, towards feeling himself again around someone. And he doesn’t realise it won’t last long. I mean it’ll last salos whole life but it doesn’t seem so long to mak who has lost him self for .. so many years… when salo passes, mak cannot get his voice out of his head, literally. Salo is always with him, a hallucination? A spell he put on him before he died? A ghost? Mak doesn’t know but he’s always there.

Salos pov is more metaphorical, after meeting mak he grows obsessed with his curse. He HAS TO find out what it is.. it drives him to do things he doesn’t consider moral, nor anyone would really. Under maks influence and bad behaviour, he slowly loses himself. But the pursuit of science and this fascinating , horrible, terrifying curse he had found in this.. maniac. He has to know how it was done, he has to know how it came to be and most importantly he has to find out who had done such a thing. He has to dissect it. It’s the only thing he can think of. Mak, mak, mak and his curse.

SIGHHHHHHH normal about them. This little text is a bit exaggerated but yerp.
