How to make eggnog with alcohol?
To make eggnog with alcohol, you will need the following ingredients:
4 large egg yolks
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 cup heavy cream
1 cup whole milk
1 cup heavy cream
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg, plus more for serving
1/2 cup bourbon or rum (optional)
To make the eggnog, follow these steps:
In a medium saucepan, whisk together the egg yolks and sugar until well combined.
Add the heavy cream, milk, and nutmeg to the saucepan and place over medium heat. Cook, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens and coats the back of a spoon, about 10-12 minutes.
Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the vanilla extract and bourbon or rum, if using.
Cover the saucepan and refrigerate the mixture until chilled, about 2 hours or overnight.
Just before serving, whisk the remaining 1 cup of heavy cream until stiff peaks form. Gently fold the whipped cream into the chilled eggnog mixture.
Serve the eggnog in glasses, garnished with a sprinkle of nutmeg on top. Enjoy!
Note: If you prefer a non-alcoholic version of eggnog, you can omit the bourbon or rum and increase the amount of milk to 1 1/2 cups.
