Hi! I really admire your audiofic work and everything! I've been playing with the idea to start recording audiofics myself for quite a while now, but the thing is that I'm not a native English speaker. My German accent will definitely come out and I won't be able to pronounce some words correctly or do certain accents some characters might have. Do think people would still listen to me and not get distracted? Or do you have tips to improve accents and such? Thank you in advance! ♡

There are lots of non-native speaker podficcers with a rainbow of accents.

And honey, even native English speakers pronounce stuff wrong or have to google “how do I pronounce ______”. I’ve got podfics where I pronounced a word wrong because I’d never heard it said aloud and it’s not one people just use outside of writing and descriptions. I’ve accidentally said things wrong and just never realized it until way later and it was just a mistake.

I recently just did my first podfic where I tried to do Rowena’s accent and THAT was a challenge. I’ve grown up always mimicking things though, quoting them back, doing voices. I’ve never not, so it wasn’t that far a stretch I might end up doing this.

How to get better? DO the thing you’re afraid of and then keep doing it. You get better with practice. Also, start trying to familiarize yourself with the accent. I actually ended up buying a Text-To-Speech program to help me with Rowena’s lines so that the program reads them to me (over and over) and I repeat them (over and over)– somtimes until they stop sounding like words altogether, and until I feel more confident my normal Southern™ drawl and my narration voice or character voices don’t get mixed into someone else’s voice.

Welches Hörspiel ist deine Lieblingsfolge?

Hmmmm das ist schwierig zu beantworten, vor allen Dingen, weil ich ständig Folgen vergesse, aber shit: Feuermond. Feuermond. Feuermond.(wobei das ja etwas geschummelt ist weil drei Folgen aber shhhh) Das kann ich mir immer wieder anhören, ich mag Hugenay und seine Geschichte, die Interaktion der Drei ist toll, ich mag auf surrealer Art und Weise Brittany und ich könnte mich immer wieder darüber Schrott lachen, wie unnötig die Aktion mit der Zentrale ist. :D Und Blacky dann dabei, höhö, herrlich. (Bin nur kein Fan vom Nachtschatten, like, natürlich muss der ganz Böse Mexikaner sein. Aber ich schweife ab) N’ knapper zweiter Platz wäre vielleicht Justus’ Teil vom Dreitag, ich hab grad den Titel vergessen, hatte mich total gefreut, als ich den letztens auf Youtube gefunden hatte.Andere gute Folgen wären die Toteninsel-Reihe, Musik des Teufels (hauptsächlich aber nur wegen Jelena, ich liebe sie), Labyrinth der Götter, das versunkene Dorf… Namenloser Gegner find ich interessant, bin aber meist gelangweilt, sobald Bob wieder dabei ist und es um den Fall wieder geht. Ach und Meister des Todes mag ich irgendwie total gerne, idk wieso, die meisten Schüler da sind eher lahm, abgesehen von Frank, den mochte ich, aber irgendwie mag ich so einige Szenen aus der Folge. (Plus ich liebe die Vorstellung, wie Bob in seinem gelben Käfer durch die Stadt fährt mit einem kleinen Sensenmann auf’m Beifahrersitz) Ansonsten haben die alten Klassiker wie Gespensterschloß natürlich ihren Charme, aber die höre ich tatsächlich eher der alten Zeiten Willen.Man darf mir übrigens jederzeit Empfehlungen/persönliche Favoriten in die Inbox werfen, da bin ich sehr neugierig \o/

Deine Zeichnungen sind echt total klasse, habe letztens erst wieder bei der Arbeit angefangen die Jungs zu hören und bin wieder voll in diesem Fandom. Also danke, wollt' ich nur mal sagen.
