PLAYING NARRATIVES: MAKE A GAME-
These were all the pieces for our final game. I had to hand sew the bags as I didn’t have a machine but I did enjoy trying out some new stitches even though it took me a long long time to sew them all. I decided to paint little symbols relating to the game in black and white to echo the look of the bridges on the pieces and I think they look really nice, although I do think that the big bag needs the name of the game on it.
The cards were irregular as I didn’t have time to cut them all neatly and in the future I would consider printing them out so that the writing didn’t show through the card so much. They were good enough to play with though, and they did fit the game’s aesthetic.Â
In the end we went for pink and blue tiles as we thought it was most eye-catching and we also thought it looked new and fresh without it being too confusing which part the sea was (the blue obviously).
We called the game ‘Island Explorers’ which isn’t the catchiest name ever but ‘Paradise Island’ seemed a bit off the mark since Paradise Island itself is such a small part of the game.
