Prayer flags (not the plastic variety) at Glastonbury Festival. Festivals are a wonderful place to share ideas & try out new ways to tackle waste, resources & living together in close quarters but more connected with nature 🍃🦋than we are perhaps when living in bricks & mortar. However, as we all know they often are left strewn with waste after the fun is over. . . Many of the plastic bags & other waste materials I've collected over the years have come from festivals, such is the density of litter. I was gearing up to run Prayer Flags & other waste art workshops at the summer festivals until my head injury 🤕 when I had to put things on hold. Plotting ahead for the future now. The purpose of these workshops is education & engagement. Danielle's super straw hanging sculpture. She worked on this across 2 workshops @acavaflourish with some help from her family. She is intending to add lights too 💡✨ It's going to look stunning in the exhibition. I love the way it changes as you walk around it. White plastic prayer flag against the light. Made with white convenience store bags (I find almost daily on the streets of London), El Corte Inglés bag from the streets of Lisbon & "Puma" from left-over detritus of Chapel Market. They always distort a little during the fusing as each plastic bag is slightly different in thickness and some are made with LDPE other are made from HDPE. #plasticprayerflags #plasticprayerflagproject #makeartnottrash (at London, United Kingdom)
