The six Maidens of the Spirit Blade, Julia, Patia, Kati, Cegila, Zell, and Makela rushed to Bangkorai Pass after learning of the betrayal at the Siege of Orsinium, arriving just as the last of the defenders were slain by the invading army. With just six against a horde, the Maidens fought for hours, falling one by one, until only Makela Leki remained. Heavily wounded, sword broken, and utterly alone, Makela reached for her Shehai, her Spirit Sword, and successfully formed it. Shehai in hand, Makela cut through and routed the Breton forces, and personally decapitated King Joile.
Makela's wounds would prove to be mortal injuries, and she spent the last moments of her life attempting to record the details of her life in a memory stone.
