The only comic I read was Civil War, so I didn't understand the "Doctor Strange being racially ambiguous" thing. Could you please enlighten me a little bit?

strange’s looks is originally based off vincent price, a white actor, but there are times in the history of his comics where the artist drew him so he doesnt look white, hence the whole “racial ambiguity” thing

im sure in mxrvels mind strange is white af, but this is more or less a huge opportunity for PoCs (specifically asians) that’s been missed, especially since stranges origin story of “white man goes to asia and Masters the Mystic Arts” is a mighty whitey trope that couldve been fixed by casting an actual asian. 

im still not going to see it since they whitewashed actual canon asian character (the ancient one)

About the consent rant: does that apply to fanvids, like, taking scenes from a tv ahow and editing a storyline or whatever? I mean, of course we could always ask for the studios permission, but I highly doubt they'd even answer.

Eeeeehh fanvids have always been a gray area. Technically speaking, we’re probably not supposed to be doing them unless it falls under one of the categories of fair use. But it seems like most companies are pretty chill with it - it’s the music artists that get hissy…and rightfully so! Which is why I’m happy that the modernization on behalf of the artist thing exists now on youtube.
