Sheets of rain were causing details to blur to the boy on the other side of the glass no matter how much grey eyes narrowed. Pale hands curled and uncurled on the top of his knees as the train twisted around corners. The floor beneath his feet was vibrating at a constant rate.
His information about the train he was on was limited. A quite odd thing, really. What boy gets on a train and doesn't even know WHERE it's going rather what he's going to ---- he did the same thing for school. That school took him and a thousand others to a school of m a g i c . This one was taking him and LESS than fifty of the brightest and most talented to . . . THE TESTING.
He could only guess what happened once the train stopped. All he knew was he wasn't going to see his family ever again. He had only t w e n t y f o u r h o u r s to say goodbye. He knew if he passed The Testing, he would be sent to The Academy. He knew that despite how he had been one of the top of his class ------- he felt drastically unprepared. This was meant to seek out new leaders of new earth. NEW EARTH -------- that's what it felt like after Voldemort won. Customs changed, people changed, and the landscape was destroyed. There was hardly any safe area from all the magic that was used to get his way . . .
What happens next? How much longer till he's there? What if he's not -- dare say it ---- good enough? What if . . . what if . . . ?
The door to his compartment opens. His eyes remain glued on the window, his fingers rubbing against each other instead of clenching into hostile fists. There was silence wrapping around his throat -- choking him. So he spoke quickly. ❝ It's nearly an empty train. Don't tell me you had trouble finding a seat , now? ❞
Then he grins. He turns his head to whoever it is. There is concealed annoyance in silver hues, a twinkle in them instead ; it gives away as much warmth as a fluorescent light. The game starts now.
The smile wavers the girl in the entryway of cold light wasn't a stranger. No, he recognized her. That made her almost a threat.
❝ O h . ❞ There's a whole book just dedicated to what that word could mean. As it was said, the smile dripped and slipped off his lips until he looked simply neutral looking at the girl with long brown hair and chocolate eyes.
