#inktober day 11. Eucalyptus + Octopus = Eucalyptopus! 🌿🐙 Eucalyptus is not at all native to Ontario, but Eucalyptopus is my new favourite word, so this guy had to be drawn. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ #maketherules #breaktherules ... #florameetsfauna #sakurapigma #octopus #eucalyptus #eucalytopus #ink #inktober2018 #sketchbook #octopusgarden #ink #blackandwhite #tree #octopustree #cephalopod #octopusart #stupidanimalhybrids #motherofstupidanimals https://www.instagram.com/p/Bo0leMQHM8k/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=4q5o02g4y4i1
Managed to pull off a 12km run on #montroyal in 34°C hot and humid weather. It was surprisingly quiet on the mountain. A peaceful way to end a crazy week. #believeintherun #maketherules (at Parc du Mont-Royal)

Top Ten Reasons I Went from Being a Die-Hard Patriots Fan to Boycotting the NFL.
Long before "patriotic" Americans decided to boycott the NFL in response to football players "disrespecting America" by exercising their right to free speech, I was already on the boycott bandwagon for other reasons. For the record, I don't think taking a knee as an act of non-violent expression warrants turning off the tube, but I do welcome those who are protesting to open up to the other dozen reasons why supporting this league is distasteful. In fact, there were numerous issues going on in the NFL before this season's "offensive act" that were unpatriotic, so I'm curious how so many people could stomach the league before Colin Kaepernick took a knee. Trust me, I know what it means to be a football fan. Growing up, before moving to New England, I was a dyed-in-the-wool Nebraska Cornhuskers fan, and like all the other Big Ten teams, Huskers' fans have their beer koozies, toilet seat covers, heck, even truck nutz proclaiming loyalty to our team. So yes, I know the thrill of cheering as that perfect spiral pass launches into the end zone while the last seconds tick down. Yes, I love the adrenaline rush and all the rituals that go into the game; from the food to the friends and family to the almost religious fanaticism as we bond together through big losses and big wins. This is how we belong. But a few years ago, maybe around 2012, the NFL came face to face with its glorification of hyper-masculinity and inability to reconcile violence on the field with violence off the field. And we had to rally hard not to take it all in and accept some responsibility as fans: From Jan. 1, 2012, to Sept. 17, 2014, 33 NFL players were arrested on charges involving domestic violence, battery, assault and murder, and at least 15 of those players were arrested for violence against women. Coverups on concussion research were exposed, suicide rates and assault arrests grew exponentially, and studies showed that we are literally paying people to sign on for a 96% chance that they will have dementia, depression, memory loss, lack of impulse control and decreased motor skills due to CTE from repetitive brain trauma. When these news stories were breaking, and then breaking, and then breaking again, our national cognitive dissonance between violence as a game and violence with real-life consequences started coming apart at the pigskin seams. For many, what began as outrage petered out into a comfortably numb drool as we returned to the divots in our couches to pray for comebacks (on and off the field). Most fans got double their money's worth of entertainment as they watched the game on Sunday and then the videos of players assaulting their partners on Monday. With a "what can you do?" attitude, pie-eyed audiences soaked up every salacious minute of the double feature. But some of us just couldn't pretend anymore that the game was harmless enough. Sure, sometimes it's worth it to try and salvage the handful of good apples from a bushel of worm-ridden compost. I sympathize with friends who want to love the game and prosecute the wrongdoers. Unfortunately, tuning in or showing up to the game at all is what puts $12 billion into the pockets of a league that condones (and outright pays for) violence. We can't just watch the 10% of the game that isn't tainted. Or, if we did, it would be the part where we all got together at the same place every Sunday to rally around and cheer on a common team. I'm sure some of you "patriots" who are new to the boycott could suggest a place to do that. So, with apologies to Tom Brady whom I adored for so long, with thanks to Richard Sherman who is beginning to articulate the tip of the iceberg of the hypocrisy that is rampant in Roger Goodell's NFL, and with deepest gratitude to Moving Forward and all those who know the true heart of sports -- the gift it can be for athletes of all genders, I give you my top ten reasons to change the channel. (Dear New England Patriots, call me when you become co-ed.) 10. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GsCYOz1QwEg 9. http://www.nytimes.com/2016/05/24/sports/football/nfl-tried-to-influence-concussion-research-congressional-study-finds.html?_r=0 8. http://www.usatoday.com/sports/nfl/arrests/ 7. http://www.foxnews.com/health/2014/03/26/hypermasculine-attitude-in-sports-may-lead-to-aggression-in-teenage.html 6. http://www.miamiherald.com/sports/spt-columns-blogs/linda-robertson/article36242022.html 5. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RG_xLatn_UI 4. http://www.forbes.com/sites/tomvanriper/2012/09/05/the-nfls-billionaire-owners-2/#7c59c79c1eb8 3.http://www.cerebrum.com/cms/traumatic-brain-injury-domestic-violence-link/ 2. https://howwegettonext.com/is-gender-segregation-in-sports-necessary-dc188150f242#.y40g92fy3 1. http://www.investopedia.com/articles/personal-finance/062515/how-nfl-makes-money.asp
