This is my reaction basically every time #Trump opens his mouth tonight. #maketrumpdrumpfagain #presidentialdebate2016
Quick background before I being my rant: I think we can all agree that the Constitution is a living document; the Bill of Rights, the first 10 amendments to the Constitution, was created because there was a portion of founding fathers who wanted to make certain that the American people had rights that could not be taken away from them. Amendments are added as the times change, as we progress into the future.
Now let’s focus on the First Amendment:
"The First Amendment (Amendment I) to the United States Constitution prohibits the making of any law respecting an establishment of religion, impeding the free exercise of religion, abridging the freedom of speech, infringing on the freedom of the press, interfering with the right to peaceably assemble or prohibiting the petitioning for a governmental redress of grievances."
Why I am bring up all of this is because everyone likes to go on about their ‘freedom of speech.’ Trump was there saying that his first amendment right was violated in the Chicago rally, and I see people agreeing with this notion and it makes me absolutely livid.
Yes, you have the freedom of speech, but you also have the freedom to peaceful protest. Go ahead, keep speaking, but I have the right to protest peacefully, and I have the right to not agree with what you are saying and voice it. Trump condoning violence to those who oppose him is utterly sickening. That’s not making the country great, that is silencing anyone who doesn’t do things exactly the way you want, who wont just fall in line. That is terrifying.
In this country we also have freedom of religion. Trump is there talking about how an entire religion hates America, and he wants to ban Muslims from entering out country. How can one even consider this man? He is scapegoating an entire religion and if you don’t see a problem with that I have one word: Hitler.
Then there is the freedom of press, were reporters and being removed, heckled, and arrested.
I am livid for my country. I am livid that this man will call out that his first amendment right has been violated. I am livid that people who support him don’t see how his campaign is parallel with Hitler’s rise to power in 1933. His entire platform is fueled by hate. He tells people at his rallies to respond to protesters with violence, and then when they do he praises them.
A protester was being lead out of the building when he was attacked by a man, that man was later arrested, and here was Trumps response when talking about the protesters: “ There used to be consequences. There are none anymore. These people are so bad for our country. You have no idea folks, you have no idea.”
There was peaceful protesting in the 1960′s and that turned out to be a damn good thing, those peaceful protesters were great for our country. There is protesting now because it needs to be done.
I will use my First Amendment right, I will use my freedom of speech and if need be I will use my right to protest peacefully, especially if there is a possibility that a toxic individual like Trump could be running this country. So go ahead Trump, try and hide behind the First Amendment, I know my rights as an American citizen and, trust me, that makes me dangerous to you.
