MAKEUP / BODY ART F.A.Q
I don't have the equipment to film proper YouTube videos yet so I hope this helps for now! I'll definitely do a full Lotor tutorial at some point!
These answers are specifically for [fantasy] characters like Lotor! I'll post a separate 'basic' cosplay makeup F.A.Q later!
>> What products do I use and how do I use it? << 1. FOUNDATION I use water activated paint. I use Snazaroo because it's cheap and you can get fairly large palettes for less than 5 quid! Snazaroo is great for foundation for fantasy characters! *I apply it by dabbing the paint on with a sponge to ensure an even coat! Make sure the paint isn't too wet otherwise your makeup will run. I would always recommend using a sponge rather than a brush because brushing on paint tends to leave streaks. 2. DETAILS For details, I use Kryolan paint because it's a lot more pigmented hence why it's more expensive! Kryolan is my favourite paint brand but I've also heard good things about Mehron! *I apply using regular face paint brushes and angled brushes for brows! 3. CONTOUR & HIGHLIGHT For contour and highlight, I currently use the Urban Decay Full Spectrum palatte. This palette is a d r e a m. But you can use any other eyeshadow palette from your local drugstore, just make sure the colours are well pigmented! *For Lotor, I just used dark purple shadow for contour and silver shimmer mixed with white for highlight! 4. EYELINER For the eyeliner, I use NYX eyeliner. It is A+++ quality! I personally find felt tip liners easier to handle but just try different liners out and see which you prefer! So far, the only brand I trust is NYX. Rimmel is shite. Please don't use Rimmel. 5. SETTING Again, to set my makeup I use NYX translucent powder. For cosplay and theatrical makeup, always go for matte finish powder - it will look the best in photos! The trick with cosplay is you want to look better in photos than in person! *I just apply this over my makeup with a big fluffy brush! I've worn makeup like this to a con and it's lasted me the entire day, even after getting hot from dancing to BTS!
