Makeup Bag Must-haves
Trying tons of beauty products is all in a day’s work for any beauty blogger. But, it’s a true testament to which ones are my ‘lifelong favourite’s’ when they make it into my compact makeup bag. Only a few made the cut and if (god forbid!) these products are ever discontinued, I’ll be cleaning the shelves of Sephora and the drugstore. These are the products that I’ll be forever loyal to.
1. Nars Laguna/Orgasm Blush and Bronzer Duo ($50, Sephora). This duo matches any eye look you could ever want to wear. The peachy pink blush has been an editor favourite for years and for good reason, it’s universally flattering for just about any skin tone. Laguna isn’t muddy or too dark for my very fair ivory skin, it’s my go-to contouring shade.
2. Benefit’s ‘Watts Up!’ ($36, Sephora). Ever wonder why celeb’s have such beautiful glowy skin on the red carpet? It’s all about the highlighter! This one is subtle enough to wear day to day, the champagne shade includes very minimal shimmer but still gives your cheek bones the ultimate amount of sheen. The cream stick formula with a sponge on the other end, makes it fool-proof when it comes to precise application.
3. Rimmel London’s Clean Matte Foundation, (Approx, $8 at various drugstores). I’ve tried tons of high end foundations. I’ve also loved tons of high end foundations, it wasn’t until recently that I discovered that there are plenty of drugstore foundations that work wonders too, for a fraction of the cost. In the winter I’m a big fan of keeping my skin matte and clean, this foundation lasts for hours and really does give you a poreless look.
4. Maybelline Eye Studio Palette in ‘Cozy Cashmere’ (Approx. $9 at various drugstores). My Urban Decay Naked palette will forever be my favourite but for quick on the go touch-ups and overnight trips, I like to pack a smaller palette that can fit with the rest of my necessities. Maybelline’s shadows are super pigmented, ‘Cozy Cashmere’ has the best neutral shades that will match any outfit, you never have to over think your makeup again! Tip: for a rushed morning, apply the darkest shade wet in replace of an eyeliner!
