Fashion...
I know all of this is going to sound like something I completely pulled out of my ass, but if you bear with me, I could possibly make some sense out of it. I was scrolling through my usual Facebook feed when I saw an interesting link that one of my friends had posted. The link was to an article called “Markus Lupfer’s Everything Under the Sun Collection” written by Lynn Yaeger for Vogue Magazine. I know the title doesn't sound interesting, and I have no clue who this Markus Lupfer guy is, but what caught my attention was the photographs of the women. These gorgeous women were modeling with pasted-on latex animal noses. These face masks were so vivid and realistic, and, to be quite frank and honest, kind of awesome. One of the models was sporting a vibrant baboon face, full with the giant red nose and whiskers, while another had the full on elephant trunk. After reading the article, I actually started to really admire Markus Lupfer. Markus Lupfer is a British designer who enjoys creating unique fashion shows that completely steers away from your traditional runway show. Not only does he display his models with latex animal noses, but also adds in a bit of comedy by accompanying the animal nose with the animal noises. Now this all sounds like I’ve completely lost it putting some random fashion information on a Marvel based blog, but the main thing that caught my attention was the latex face masks. they caused me to start thinking about all the Marvel heroes and villains and how some of them are prepared for filming. I know a few of the heroes are made through CGI and special effects, but there are also a few that are created through face make-up and latex. For example, in the Marvel movie, Guardians of the Galaxy, over 22 of the cast members underwent a makeup process to turn into the various aliens we saw in the film, such as Gamora. There was a ridiculous amount of time put into some of these face masks. It just surprised me to see similar techniques to be implemented into the fashion world. The fact that latex and synthetic face-masks are being used not only in movies but also in fashion may lead to more advancement in making the make-up more realistic and stunning, which may even give better results then visual effects or CGI.
