Duped: Drugstore Brand Reviews
Welcome back, this weekend I found a couple of beauty dupes for brands that are normally way out of my price range. I decided to test out a highlighter and a setting spray, two items that in the past year have become essentials for anyone who knows anything about makeup in the beauty community.
The first item I found was a Wet n’ Wild highlighter in the shade, Precious Petals, which is said to be on par with the BECCA Champagne Pop highlighter, a cult favorite. The Wet n’ Wild shade comes at a fraction of the price, so I had high hopes it would work out.
This peachy-pink shade is a perfect doppelgänger to the original BECCA shade. Wet n’ Wild, a beauty brand that’s on the top of just about every drugstore beauty fan’s list, is known for crafting some of the most shockingly perfect products for low price points.

Although the packaging is lackluster, the color was very nice and when I swiped my brush across it picked up a fair amount of product. I should note that in all honestly, my highlighting brush is on the cheaper end and struggles to grab almost any product on a given day so it sets a rather low standard.
When applied, the color melted nicely into my skin although it was not as pigmented as I had hoped. After some finessing I got the look of my highlight just right, I think that for a product that costs $4.99 it did a great job at providing a nice color and pop of shimmer. The downside is that it isn’t as pigmented so in this case a little does not go a long way, but overall for the price it I really enjoyed it.
I set my look with L’Oreal Paris Infallible Pro Spray & Set which is half the price of Urban Decay’s All Nighter. On first spritz, it smelled like baby wipes and sprayed a bit unevenly, but it managed to keep my look on ALL DAY. In this case when I say all day, I really can’t stress enough how all day I mean. I did my makeup around 10 a.m. and the only time it showed signs of smudging was after I strapped on my helmet and rode my horse in 85 degree afternoon heat. Despite the slightly off-putting smell, which goes away once dried, this product was definitely a winner in my books.
I thought both products did a great job and would recommend that you at least give them a try since the price on both is worth the risk and you may end up loving them even more than the originals.
**UPDATE** I found both of these products at Target, although I’ve also seen them at RiteAid and even Walmart.
The Wet n’ Wild highlighter and the L’Oreal setting spray and yes, that is a Glossier You in the background. I swear by it, but that is a whole other post in itself.
