The Year of the Rose-Lyon.
Hey, you!
How ya been? Hopefully good. Hopefully surviving the End Times. Hopefully kicking all the ass.
Me? Ohhhhh I’ve been up to some shit.
So I thought I’d give ya an update. And just like real quick notify you of the beginning of
THE YEAR OF THE ROSE-LYON.
Narcissistic, sure. Obvs. But ‘tis justified. Big shit is ahead, friend.
For example! I’m sure some of you have spotted my intermittent teases of something called #Project1919. But what is it? Is it a comic book? Or an ambitious concept album about a weirdly specific year? Or a socially hyper-relevant art installation involving Shia LaBeouf? Who knows?!
I do. It’s a comic. A really, really dope comic.
The way-too-fucking-talented Kellye Perdue aka @peroro is on art duty and hooooooooooooolllyyyyyyy shhhHHHHIIIIIiiIIiTTtttTTtTT is her art for this thing bonkers-next-level-fantastic.
Don’t believe me? Seriously? Check this shit:
See?? I fucking told you. And that shit’s just a background.
Plus, we’ve got my editor/letterer/wife Haley Rose-Lyon in the mix aka I’m the least talented person attached to this comic book. Which I’m a hundred percent cool with cuz this thing makes me look real good at comics.
But, again, what is it? What’s it about? Is it another short? A webcomic? Graphic novel? Does it involve Shia LaBeouf? Is it even called #Project1919?!
And to that I say: Wait for it. So, so, so much more to come. And it’s a’comin’ real soon-like.
But that alone does not justify the existence of The Year of the Rose-Lyon. If there’s one thing I learned from the Year of Luigi (although I’d like to think I learned many things from the Year of Luigi), it’s that there’s gotta be way more than that. And oh sheesh is there way more than that.
Like how I’m currently attached to a stupidly exciting film project. A film project that fans of my older work will be quite hyped about.
BUT I CAN SAY NO MORE. DESPITE MY WANTING TO SAY ALL THE MORE.
And then there’re like four other things at various levels of done-ness that I also can’t say shit about that you gals, guys, and otherwise are gonna dig so hard.
In other words, lots of cool junk that I can’t talk about but maybe, like, message me and I’ll whisper all the cool junk to you real quite so all the people that’d get mad at me for talking about it can’t hear it. Foolproof.
So mark your calendars. And by “mark” I mean “scribble out all the ‘2017′s and write ‘YEAR OF THE ROSE-LYON’ real big over them.” Cuz this shit’s gon’ be hype.
All the love and high-fives forever and ever xoxoxo and all that,
–John
I'd like to thank everyone who voted for our film "Pirating A Film IRL" for the Open Channel #UnScene Competition. We've made the top 6 finalists and our film will be screening at Village Cinemas Rivoli. Congratulations to everyone who made a film and all the other finalists, we had a tough theme to work with, and everyone came out shining! xxmk

MAKING SHORT FILMS HAS NEVER BEEN EASIER
Making short films has never been easier. Cameras are smaller, lighter, less expensive and easier to use. A home PC and an inexpensive programme is all you need to edit, compose music and add sound and digital effects.
