Recently I’ve felt the desire to get back into personal-blogging. That is, semi-personal blogging maybe, as said desire may or may not be connected to the fact that soon enough I will leave the cozy comfort-zone that is art-school and will try to take myself and my work serious. Or at least. Pretend to.  More important, I feel the need to get more open about what I do and where and so on and so forth. I figured I’d give it a go here. Consider it a sort of try-run before my official website launches. Before I actually need to get into this whole social-media presentation. Or consider it another daily challenge I set for myself which I may or may not give up within the next week.

It is time to clean up my place in our school’s workshop and to put all my belongings into boxes. I’ve got a number of notebooks from classes to work through and some drafts for comics summing up stuff I learned in puppetry-school which might also be of use to creators of other sorts.

This was supposed to be my last month in Stuttgart. Except it isn’t. I will spent another month here, maybe even more, at the end of summer.  Two friends and fellow students (one from the acting-, the other from the speaking arts department), and I will co-teach a theatre class at some middle-school. It’s not going to be easy, the class’s teacher told us (difficult part of the city, difficult kids, etc etc). Still I am very much looking forward to the experience. We chose “strangers” as our theme, and will start with observing people so we can then learn how to portrait or incorporate them (or even just certain traits), without forcing any of the 14-year-olds to bare their bones or bang their heads against the wall called self, as we are supposed to do at drama-school.

As for current projects: For the live-action-radio-play we’ll be presenting at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, I built two noise-boxes. One is basically a small suitcase with a contact-mike stuck to its side. The other one’s a wooden box with a bunch of random springs inside. 

After some technical difficulties today (that’s what you get for rushed last-minute soldering!), I am very excited to couple them with loops and effects tomorrow.
