(sorry long ask) okay so that post you reblogged about the expectation to maintain these ridiculously perfect bodies that require difficult and finicky workout regeimes and precise and miserable diets without showing any of effort involved, got me thinking of the soldier trio and shinras marketing department (and seph in particular but it does aply to the other two) . Becuase if you think about it theres no practical reason in world-
pt2 - (outside world theres the obvious " we can make them pretty so we will" reason) for them to have such high maintenence phyisques - they get their strength from the mako anyway and diet requirements to get that really crazy skin tight muscle definition are actually detrimental to performance. But from shinaras marketing point of view its great! anyway im not sure where i was going with this when i started but -
pt3 i have a mental image of the boys eating spinach and being pissed about it while shinra parades this image of them being naturally perfect becuase !" shinra science"! to con everyone into beleiveing their soldiers are superior becuase you can do the laundry on their stomach.

I’m very much fond of the idea of the ShinRa boys and girls having to do specific things to keep up the company’s appearance and how things are so different once you actually become a part of the company.
They go to parties they hate and pretend to be nice to people they can’t stand, they give rousing speeches about things they don’t believe in and the Turks wipe any “bad” press that might make its way to the front page - be it murdering innocent civilians under ShinRa’s orders or Zack accidentally falling down the stairs in front of a group of startled troopers (because Gaia forbid their perfect creations be ungraceful) - and now I’m adding them having to eat specific things and workout in specific ways just to maintain the illusion of perfection ShinRa has constructed to that list.
Yessssss.
Like, what if it’s not only the diet and exercise for the perfect physique? WHAT IF SEPHIROTH DOESN’T EVEN LIKE HIS STUPID LONG HAIR THAT'S ENTIRELY IMPRACTICAL FOR BATTLE?
Do some of them wear industrial battle makeup to hide any “flaws?” Is that why so many of them are gorgeous even without considering their laundry-washing abs?
Are there even any “ugly” SOLDIERs in the first place? Are they assigned to kill monsters in some remote mountain range? Are they just not allowed to become SOLDIERs at all? DO THEY HAVE TO WEAR HELMETS ALL THE TIME. IS THAT THE REASON FOR THE SOLDIER HELMETS? O_O
