Chapter six of the Makrobar saga
"Seen me? Who would have seen me?" She asked, leaning over the passenger seat. "My colleagues. They're not as lenient as I. " the car accelerated as he spoke. "You should be buckled up." She rolled her eyes, still leaning over the passenger seat. "What will they do? Sacrifice me to some kind of bloodthirsty occult mascot?" He shrugs, "probably." Her face deadpans "what?" "We've never really had a problem with people outside the scouts interfering with us." Keller said, turning back onto a more populated street. After a moment he drove in silence, not taking his eyes off the road. When he spoke again, Makayla jumped slightly. "Are you afraid?" His voice seemed far away. Concerned almost. "Afraid of what?" "Those consequences I warned you about. They may come up soon." She noticed his knuckles were white as he gripped the steering wheel. "Yeah. I am, but I guess it hasn't caught up with me? " she shrugged. Smirking to herself. He stopped the car in front of Makayla's house, shutting the car off and turning to face her. "Makayla this is very important. You need to be wary of those around you. Anyone could be a scout, do you understand?" His hand caressed her cheek with an urgent softness, "I will do my best to keep you safe." Her breath caught in her throat, his hands were warm. So very warm. "Ok." Was all she could whisper out. A smile tugged his lips, he leaned forward. Why was he leaning forward? Was there something on her face? Was.. Oh.. Her mind stood still, feeling a feather light kiss on her slightly parted lips. This was happening. She was being kissed by this man and... She liked it.
