Miscellaneous Mal Canon: Fae Edition
Malachi pronounces his name like “Mal-Ah-Kee”, not “Mal-Ahk-Eye” and he will very pointedly correct anyone who gets it wrong.
As with fae in general, Mal can not outright lie, but he can deceive and trick people in other ways.
He can be benevolent when pleased or cruel and spiteful when angered (which is why it is always best to stay on the good side of the fae in general)
He can be appeased very easily with offerings of milk, baked goods/other sweet things, and alcohol.
Mal is not strictly a changeling, but he was raised by humans for the first eight or nine years of his life after he was left in place of the human family’s own child.
Once his human family learned the truth of what he was, it was too dangerous for him to remain with them. Luckily, though, another fae found him around that time and he was unofficially adopted into a group that consisted entirely of wyldfae whose ages ranged from not much older than Mal to full-grown adults, and he remained with the group until he was an adult.
While Clurichauns are generally short and don’t have wings, Mal’s birth mother was a Sylph, so Mal inherited both the winged trait and being much taller than Clurichauns typically are from her. He gets his ability to drink constantly from the Clurichaun side of his bloodline though.
Mal’s wings are like those of a dragonfly - They are delicate and transparent, but when they catch the light, they give off an iridescent shift through greens, blues, and purples.
He is allergic to iron. It will physically cause his skin to blister and scar to touch it, and it would prove fatal to him if he suffered extremely long exposure to it or was forced to ingest it.
While he most often uses male pronouns, Mal does not care much for the gender binary and will self-identify as fluid and will accept any pronouns a person uses for him. He also has a tendency to dress flamboyantly to reflect this.
Mal uses both illusory and elemental magic with great skill and always has some sort of glamour happening at any given time, usually to conceal his wings and to change his tattoos, which he likes to swap out frequently when he finds a new design he likes
He also has an innate ability to read certain things about other people, most often whether they are human or not, but also occasionally things about their past or future.
