Her parents should have been here hours ago.
Well, maybe not hours ago. But they were late, very late. Sherry had watched nearly every officer in the RPD pack up and head home, waved them goodbye, and continued to diligently await her father’s car. Fifteen minutes ago, he’d called to tell the girl that her parents would be late, as though she hadn’t realized that by then.
She was used to it, but she still couldn’t help but be disappointed. Every other person she knew was at home, having fun, spending this wonderful evening with their families. And here she was, still at the station, just looking for ways to pass the time. Not that she was upset, truly. A little tired, perhaps, but not upset.
But, Sherry had never been one to see the glass half-empty. She was going to make the best out of this evening, one way or another.
She knew that the station carried chalk in one of the supply closets. Although her dad had, more than once, scolded her for using said chalk ( apparently, it was used to mark things off - no one told her exactly what ), her uncle never seemed to put up much fuss over her using things from the station. Besides a few occasions, of course, but that was besides the point.
A grin burst onto Sherry’s face, and without much thought, she giddily responded, “Deal!”
She wasn’t much sure exactly what she could do for someone like Jessica, who seemed to know everything. But a deal was a deal, and Sherry was quite happy with the one she’d just made.
Excitedly, she took a hold of Jessica’s sleeve, motioning for the woman to follow her. The shelf in question was on the first floor, on the side of the building that was, in her opinion, easier to get to. No lever-pulling required ( Sherry still didn’t understand the point of using levers when handles worked just as well ), just normal doors all the way there.
“And, by the way, I did solve it. Chris took it. That’s what Uncle Albert said, anyways. I just gotta figure out where he hid it,” the blonde absentmindedly commented, before glancing up at her companion and eagerly continuing, “Hey, you’re smart!! Do you know where Chris might hide a stool?”
