YOU BET, here are all the lousy photos I took of today’s matches!
Paul London (in white) vs. Marty the Moth (Jack Black-lookin’ dude) - fun as hell, Paul London is my new fave, I love him.
Garza Jr. (Mexican flag pants) vs. the Mack (purple briefs) - guys, I wish I had been quick enough to get a photo of this, Garza Jr. started off this match by hopping up to lay down on the top rope to convey how totally unintimidated he was. Shoulda been more intimidated, I guess, the Mack kicked his ass.
Johnny Mundo (my boyfriend) vs. Drago (A DRAGON) - I mean it was fine I guess? No, obviously I loved it, I LOVE seeing Johnny Mundo wrestle. I feel a little conflicted about my love for him because of his general douchebaggery, but... I like a good-looking douchebag, sue me. (Anyway, the main reason I love him is an out-of-character reason, which is that he can and will sell ANYTHING. You could fuck up a move so bad you completely missed him and he’d convince the crowd you flung him across the ring with telekinesis powers or something. He’s great.)
Cage (my other boyfriend) vs. Matanza (mask, coveralls) - this was the first match where my favorite didn’t win! Poor Cage. He’s also a delight to watch - he’s shockingly acrobatic for such a big, jacked dude. But Matanza is extremely powerful and also I think controlled by some kind of sinister magic, so, y’know, what can you do.
A four-way match between Taya (blonde), Joey Ryan (Hawaiian-print briefs & socks), Saltador (zentai suit), and Ivelisse (not pictured here) - THERE’S A LOT GOING ON IN THIS RING, YOU GUYS.
Aaaand the final match, Pentagon Dark vs. Mil Muertes, was so exciting I forgot to take a picture at all! Pentagon Dark is a huge fan favorite, there were a ton of kids in the crowd wearing his mask, and Mil Muertes is EXTREMELY EVIL, so obviously it was a very engaging match. Pentagon NARROWLY won, thanks to the support of the crowd and also a little help from Vampiro, who normally just commentates but was appointed Special Guest Enforcer for this match.
Anyway my overall review of my first ever live professional wrestling event is: THIS IS THE BEST SPORT IN THE WORLD.
About your amazing ma Kent fic: was that a passing reference to trans!Pa Kent when you wrote that he didn't know what it was like to be a son?

You should take some selfies! Not to post, I know you don't put your face online. But because after you take enough selfies, you figure out how to take good selfies, and then you have good photos to look back on when you're old. (That's my plan)
LOL! I do actually take selfies sometimes but mostly they’re to send to my parents. I’m not really into what I wear or like, having good hair game (it’s fine if people are, just not my thing) so there’s no real point, I’m ok with not remembering what I looked like in 30 years.
But my folks like seeing where I’ve been, so my mum probably has about 30 pictures of 3/4 of my face in the corner of a picture of something more interesting, like the Bean or the robots exhibit at the MSI or the cake pan rack at Northwestern Cutlery. I think her favorite is the one I sent her of me and Captain Chicago from C2E2 last year.
Pardon me if you've answered this before, but I'm curious; does being a supertaster make it hard to eat a well rounded diet? Do you have to make a point of eating stuff just for the sake of getting certain vitamins?
Honestly, mostly in terms of vitamin and mineral balances I just take a lot of vitamins. It’s partly per doctor’s orders, but I have other minor health issues in play.
It does make it difficult to eat “healthy” when most plant-based foods make you gag. I can’t tell you the last time I ate a green bean or a piece of lettuce. I use spinach in salads on the rare occasions I make them, because spinach at least is palatable. I eat a lot of pinto beans and lentils.
But honestly eating nourishing, nutritious food isn’t that difficult, you just have to learn to make substitutions. What is much more difficult is putting up with the bullshit you get from people who think it’s their job to police what you eat. Yeah, sorry I don’t want to eat that cinnamon candy but I prefer not having a burning sensation in my mouth for the next hour. Oh no, I’m not macho, I asked for my curry mild because that way it’s actually edible for me. I’m so childish, I don’t like a salad on top of my hot dog because I want to taste the actual delicious part, the HOT DOG. On and on.
It took me a long time to be comfortable with my food choices as necessity rather than a personal failing, and as a result my relationship to food’s a bit weird at times. And once I figured all this out I spent a good few months being really angry that I’d been shamed over what I ate for basically the first twenty-five years of my life.
When I talked to Mum about being a supertaster we had the following exchange:
Her: You used to really hate peas.Me: Yeah, I remember gagging on them.Her: We just thought you were being melodramatic.Me: Yes, I remember that also.
I got past that, but it took some work; at least now I can laugh at all the beige I eat, because I know I can defend why I do it as something other than a personal failing. And now I try to remember that when someone questions my food choices, I need to take a minute to explain to them that I don’t experience flavor the same way they do, and I’ve made a personal choice to eat in a way that allows me to enjoy my food. :)

Actually, I’ve been thinking that I need a better tag for when I post my own projects, since I also use the tag “mission: making tiny things” for reference posts and other people’s work that I find especially impressive or inspiring. oh my god that game sounds amazing
So, obviously a lot of my enjoyment here is dependent on the terrific group I get to play with, but if you’re not familiar with the Numenera system I strongly recommend you check it out, because I do think it lends itself to this kind of fun! It’s a soft sci-fi setting -- the game takes place in the billion-years-distant future, the Ninth World, so called because there have been eight apocalypses, and the world is littered with advanced technology, relics of the previous worlds, that might as well be magic for all you understand it. And the system is really straightforward, with fairly rules-light gameplay, and allows you to do a lot of cool cinematic stuff. There’s a free downloadable preview! Check it out!
