Beef Rolls & Honey Cake | Seunghoon & Maliya
"Come on, Hoon, get your ass up from the ground and move it! I can already hear the beef rolls calling out to me!" Maliya exclaimed over her shoulder at her best friend and brother, waiting for him to finish packing up his stuff (well, their stuff, really) and get up. They were only a little end away from their destination, having chosen to pause in that particular spot just so Pogo could have another moment in free nature before he would be surrounded by people for a whole week in a row. The little big-eared creature skippied around its owner for a bit watching him pack before scurrying over to Maliya herself and climbing her like he would any tree - with no effort whatsoever. Snorting at that, the female airbender lifted her hand to pet the creature a little, finding a moment of peace in the action that of course only lasted until her friend was finished. Grinning widely at Seunghoon when he walked up to her, Maliya already started to move the air around them lightly, although she waited for Seunghoon to join in before really being on their way again.
As a lone child - one left behind by its parents - Maliya had been taken in by the Air Nomads when one of them had found her on one of their travels and brought her back to the Eastern Air Temple. There it had been Seunghoon's parents who had taken her in to care for her. But a baby when that happened, Maliya had never known any different than for Seunghoon's parents to be hers and Seunghoon to be her brother, although she'd always been told honestly and upfront that it wasn't actually true. But the reality that it had been other people creating and giving birth to her - as well as leaving her, by the way - had never held much sway over her. She'd never considered it necessary to go find her parents and the only reason it had bugged her for a while was because not being an actual Air Nomad had meant that she might not have been able to bend air. But soon it was explained to her that the opposite was true and that it was the upbringing that had people able to bend air. And indeed, alongside her brother, Maliya had learned to bend air. Although she was hardly as skilled as he was and had to put in a lot more effort to get the trick behind every movement, she was a capable enough airbender. For her, every little thing she could do with air was already an achievement, so the fact that she'd managed to get to such a skilled level that she might even be able to take her master test and succeed was like her wildest dreams come true.
Turning her head over to her brother after a little while of travel, Maliya smiled warmly at the mere sight of him. Even though they'd had their differences as little kids - especially because Maliya had been a difficult child as the Air Nomads used to call her, very stubborn and unwilling to bend - she now couldn't think of anyone else she'd rather spent time with than Seunghoon. They'd known each other all their lives and because of that she knew the way he worked better than anyone, as he knew her too. Whenever she had a bad day he knew to leave her be until she came to him and likewise she knew how to respond to the things he said or did. And throughout their years of travelling together they had come to an even better understanding of each other - or at least she had of him - so that at this point in time she couldn't even imagine herself roaming the earth without him. Which was why the two of them were on their way to the Autumn Festival together now and why they would perform something together which she had allowed her brother to invent and design completely on his own, because he was a lot better at that than her. This year the Autumn Festival was held in the Fire Nation again, which at least meant that it wasn't in the middle of the desert like it had been a few years back, but that also meant that the delicacies they'd serve would be Fire Nation treats and boy did she love those with a vengeance. Which reminded her..
"Oh my god, I hope they have that delicious honey cake that we had last year. Remember? From the old lady right next to the olives and herbs stand." Looking over at her brother to see if he remember who and what she was talking about, Maliya then instantly continued on about her precious cake, smiling widely as the saliva already entered her mouth at the mere thought of the delicious food. "The way the honey almost dripped off of that and it was just so soft and moist and mhmmmmm!" Making a face of ecstasy, Maliya at least managed not to lose focus on her bending so she didn't plummet down to the ground, but she did go in a bit of a zig-zagging line because of the way she had been moving herself trying to explain to her brother the deliciousness of the food.
