The ascetic, barrel-vaulted dining room at La Malcontenta (Villa Foscari), designed by Andrea Palladio in 1560 in the Veneto region of Italy. The most recent stewards, Antonio Foscari (descendant of the original owner) and his architect wife Barbara del Vicario, updated the design of the dining room with chairs based on a Roman model. Del Vacario also designed the candle holders on the table, and the columns on either side of the doorway, which came from her Ottagono line. The chandelier of sixty Murano glass bowls is made for candles. Photo by François Halard as featured in HG in 2001.
