What's really terrible is that this is exactly my flavor of angst, and I would read 1000000 fanfics with this kind of plot, but I don't trust the show to handle it well if they actually do go down the malec-breakup route.

But also I just keep thinking about this interview (gifset credit):

Okay, so Alec told his mother and Jace that he was going to propose, right? But he obviously didn’t. So what if the next day, Jace asks Magnus if he was surprised or to see the ring or something, and Magnus just goes blank and that’s how he finds out that Alec wants to marry him.

A Mother’s Love...

Can we take a moment to appreciate this moment right here:

Can you imagine how much this must mean to Magnus?

This is Maryse Lightwood, the woman who hated Downworlders enough to join the Circle. The woman who hated Magnus being with Alec and verbally jabbed and degraded him every chance she had. This is Alec’s mother embracing Magnus both literally and figuratively. This is her accepting him and basically signing off on their relationship. Magnus knows how much family means to Alec and not having a family of his own, this must mean the world to him.

Secondly and completely heartbreaking, think about how long it has been since Magnus had a motherly figure embrace him like this. His own mother took her own life because she thought Magnus was a monster and she was ashamed to have born such a being. Now we have Maryse holding him, accepting him, bringing him into the Lightwood fold. Treating him not as a monster but as someone worth embracing. 

And now I’m crying. I can already tell this episode is going to mess me up and I can’t wait.

“I’m not going anywhere.” Again....

Obviously they are building up to Magnus going to Edom but I’m obviously curious about how this is going to play out.

Sooner rather than later Alec is going to find out that Jace did die and Clary brought him back. And now Alec knows Amodeus is Magnus’ father.

What if Magnus goes to Edom and something happens which leads Alec to believing that Magnus is dead. The devastation will be real and I am not in anyway ready for this.

Of course Alec then goes to Jace and Clary to ask them to bring Magnus back like they did with Jace. Obviously they can’t and Alec will be pissed. 

In his desperation he summons Asmodeus and makes a deal to bring Magnus back. This could also bring in the whole immortal Alec sl people are speculating about. 

If this is not the case someone please fic this shit or if it already exists please send it my way.
