On the second day of angst-mas, Demo will give thee
YEAH I AINT LEAVING OLD LADIES OUT OF THIS ONE, NOT FOR JACK SHIT
It's gonna be a slow and easing pain I hope. It's long as hell, like 1,000+9 huuuge words
-Biiiiig faaaaat liiiiiiiine-
Maleficia gazed out the window, holding her beloved egg, oh how restless her future child will become. Will they be a girl? Will they be a boy? No matter what, she will love them dearly no matter how mischievous they shall be.
Sleep escaped her majesty, especially when her daughter is setting everything on fire. She couldn't understand which squeaks and which growls were a threat to burning down ancient tapestries. Her beloved daughter was certainly a handful for a fae dragonling.
When Levan entered Meleanor's life, it felt calmer, like resting outside of Royal duties was possible again. She knew these two will grow into a lovely couple, sickening sweet depending on how much more her daughter tests Levan's personal space. Good thing he was very devoted to the princess already.
... Well, Maleficia did not expect a bat fae to start tagging along with her daughter. Such a rough looking child, looking grouchy most times yet indulging the chaos her daughter had brought. The child's name was Lilia, balancing out Levan's calm and timid manner and Meleanor's chaotic stubborness. As much as the court hates it, she knew they were a trio for life.
Maleficia couldn't show it, but she loved how the two boys became generals for her daughter. Levan, the eyes and wings, and also betrothed. Lilia, the very serious little bat. He has barely grown in the coming years. Sure, Meleanor is beginning to estrange herself from the court, her stubborn will unable to be overcome by traditions, but Maleficia hopes that soon, they will live under one roof once again.
Meleanor's and Levan's wedding was a blessing for Briar Kingdom, however, she saw the longing Lilia had. He wanted to be right there, happy with his best friends. She only hoped, yes, that joy will be there for the three.
The news of Meleanor laying an egg was a celebration that echoed through the realm, day and night fairies cheering together for the next heir in line for the Draconia throne. Maleficia was so happy to be a grandmother, she just wished her daughter would come back, even for a short visit.
Her darling grandchild was meant to hatch soon, but humans began breeching the country. Oh, how this dreaded feeling grew. Levan was going to talk to them while Lilia stayed behind. She just hoped, that everything will be okay.
Levan was missing. Oh, no, her son-law was missing. This meant all-out-war between human and fae. The hope for a connection was stamped down by a king's desire to conquer. Her daughter was angry with every right to be so, Lilia searching for Lilia while hanging back to protect her daughter.
Her sweet, but chaotic, stubborn daughter...
She heard the screech, the rumble, the pain that nature had delivered. It couldn't be. Her daughter not only overblotted, but was killed by the humans. How could this be so? She couldn't even see her daughter one last time and now her grandchild was missing, the egg was being chased down. She felt like she had been torn apart, her heart seething, demanding to slay the humans while her mind tried to remain rational, that if she had gone in her old age, her grandchild will have no one.
She was numb while the court went rampant. She didn't know that Lilia was banned under her name until later, when she saw the last thing of her daughter in the nursery tower. She didn't change the decree either. Maybe it was to force the guilt to expel itself, maybe anger that the little bat fae didn't sacrifice himself to save Meleanor.
200 years passed in the blink of an eye, truly seeing her kingdom now a valley of the past, thorns pricking with every aching memory. Her grandchild was dying and Lilia was nowhere to be found.
When Malleus was born, it was a joyous day, finally a good thing to happen but... Lilia was who hatched him. If the court hadn't banished him, if she hadn't turned a blind eye, would Malleus have been born sooner? The thought plagued her and accepted the court's decision to rewrite history. Malleus was here, and he will be protected from the horrors of the world.
Humans were beginning to mend with fae, though 400 years too late. Even Lilia has a human son, which shocked Maleficia to her core for a month or so. It wasn't hard for her to recognize who the boy was, but if it was the part to forgiveness, so be it.
When Malleus was accepted into Night Raven College, it panged her to send her grandson away, but as she needed to do her duties, Malleus needed to learn of the world around him. Lilia will be going with him, and then the next year Lilia, then maybe Baul's grandson Sebek, who is 2 halves human and fae. This will bring good things, Maleficia hopef.
Malleus sent letters often, but more often during his third year, speaking of a magicless human of another world. Maleficia could recognize this behavior, so matter how mature Malleus tried to act. He was clingy to this human named Yuu, signifying a bond to change history.
What conditions did the Great Seven make it where history repeated itself once again?
Her grandson overblotted, turning the world to an endless slumber. Why did it make the past mistakes crawl back from their graves, buried alive by her guilt? Maleficia had to set her emotions aside, telling S.T.Y.X that it may be best to end the bloodline with herself and Malleus. As a queen, she must protect the people, but as a grandmother, she couldn't hold herself together. She placed the option to kill the only family she had left in the hands of humans, the ones who took away her daughter in the first place!
She cannot bear to lose herself, her daughter, her son-law again, and Maleficia certainly cannot lose Malleus.
I had fun writing this at 3 fucking am last night, yeeeeeep
