"Don’t call me." // "I’m not ticklish." // "It’s just rain." // "I want a pet."
Her lip quivered ever so slightly as he said the words. She feared that it was visible to him, that he would pick up on her charade of strength and laugh at her for the little girl she truly was. But she held her head high and summoned up all of the Scottish stubbornness that she was known for.
"I wasn’t planning to." She hissed, her words dripping with venom.
In fact that was the opposite of what she truly wanted to do. Karen wanted to go to a dive bar somewhere and drink until all of her problems melted away and then call him to come and rescue her like he always did.
Karen spun on her heel and walked out the door, slamming it shut behind her. She walked two blocks before she felt like she was choking on the tears that she had been holding onto.
"But everyone’s ticklish," Jade giggled, quickly added a half forgotten ‘sir’ to the end of it.
Marc lips thinned slightly, wondering when she was ever going to give up the ‘sir’. “I’m just not.” He repeated, puffing out his chest. He was determined not to show any weakness because the truth of the matter was that he was in fact extremely ticklish in quite a number of places.
Jade’s eyes glistened mischievously. All of a sudden her small, thin frame was on top of him. Her fingers digging into his sides until he was gasping with laughter. Her fingers seemed to be everywhere at once. His sides, the insides of his elbows, under his arms, not letting up for a second to let him breathe.
Eventually he found his strength and pinned her underneath him. “You’re going to regret that.” He promised in a low voice.
"Are you sure?" She asked, looking around her almost expecting a crazy killer to jump out of the darkness and kill her.
Patrick just laughed and shook his head. She supposed that it was her own fault for reading creepy things at this time of night, but then again it wasn’t her fault they were all so interesting.
Ash swallowed her fears and looked out the window. Sure enough the outside world was drenched from the light rain. A loud clap of thunder rolled through the house and Ash screamed, jumping back into Patrick’s arms. He just patted her head but she knew that there would definitely be teasing later.
Bonnie looked at him, puzzled by how he thought he could raise a pet in this place to begin with. In fact she had no words for how stupid that idea was. How was he even supposed to get a pet if they weren’t allowed beyond the disgusting coffee shop down the road.
"You’re insane," she declared, going back to lathering her skin in suncream. Bonnie looked up at Chris to find him still looking at her with those big puppy dog eyes. "I’m not helping you." She said, her lips thinning but her resolve wavering. He just continued to look at her with those brown eyes that always seemed to get their way.
"Fine!" She threw her hands in the air and then closed the lid on the suncream. "Whatever! But I’m not feeding it and I’m definitely not training it.”
She had to learn how to say no to him.
