Wednesday, February 17: Malisha, “Burning Rage”
Marty Friedman bounced around the scene for several years before joining Megadeth, so much so that a good chunk of his former bandmates ended up putting out their own records before he rose to prominence. Such was the case with Kim La Chance and Malisha’s Serve Your Savage Beast, which came out about 3 years after La Chance and Friedman played together in Vixen and 4 years before Rust in Peace. And while “Burning Rage” sounded nothing like Megadeth, the tune attacked with energy and vigor. No, it wasn’t really anything extraordinary, but it was an enjoyable mid ‘80s banger and La Chance’s wailing had a nice little screech mixed in. Manisha’s sole full-length was culled together from several different sessions, and had something like 70 musicians play on it, so this was clearly not meant for the long haul. Still, “Burning Rage” was a fine showcase for a vocalist who put in the work.
