there was a part of lia that did not want to go to this function tonight. in fact, most of her would have rather sat in her apartment, shoving popcorn into her mouth and rewatched love actually for the fortieth time. she would have gladly hidden herself from the world and avoided every human being just to avoid being around her boss. but that wasn’t her job, was it? her job was to go to these functions, schmooze with the fancy people he wanted to become clients and then, if she had done a good job, she’d get the next day off. if not, she’d be back at 8am, bright and early--to deal with his screaming. so it was no wonder when she slipped on the glittering gown that she felt...different inside. empty and hollow and tired of all these games her mind was playing with her. now was not the time for this she reminded herself and quickly grabbed her bag before she could think of another reason to hate herself. as she excited the elevator, she smiled at a familiar face.
“so,” she paused and twirled, showing her dress off--a desperate attempt to try and get excited for this event. “what do you think?”
