Also 'risk to mental health' is so vague as to be pretty much useless as an exception to anything 'illegal'.
What’s kinda funny (though not really) is that both the NZ pro choice and life groups agree on this. Choice because woman shouldn’t have to claim mental heath as a reason, and Life because they believe that too many woman get abortions under this exception. I think it’s about 99% of abortions in NZ are done under the mental heath exception. Also the current laws don’t take in to fact socio-economic factors, i.e the fact that someone can’t even support a child, hence why so many are done under the mental heath clause.
