Something else I see people keep forgetting: between humans and Eridians, we are the astronauts. And we are good at it.

Eridians' perception of the world relies on something that is completely absent in space — sound. They haven't been looking at the stars their entire existence the way we have. Their concept of aliens might only be as old as their discovery of astrophage. They made a bad ship, because it was their first one ever! Rocky himself says they rushed it, and that multiple (vital) things broke. Their mission was just as much of a Hail Mary pass as ours was — they had no idea what they were doing, if they could even travel in space safely. And, as it turns out, they couldn't.

Humans are the ones who have been doing it over multiple lifetimes. Mary is state of the art. We've been space farers longer than most humans have been alive. We can actually see through space. We are more likely to survive exposure to the void. We can encase our lighter, more flexible, more mobile bodies in a material that lets us walk outside of our ship, and, to a degree, we can get our bearings out there in a way Eridians just can't.

Eridians are not looking at Mary and thinking she's a bad ship. They are not thinking humans have no idea what we're doing. They are looking at this species that can walk in the stars, have been perfecting machines to take us to them for decades, have been dreaming about them and mapping them and naming them for millennia, and used all of that to save them, and thinking, wow.

This, like I think they won't understand why we made it out of aluminum instead of anything else but if aliens showed up on earth in a fully functioning spaceship made out of cardboard, that was capable of climate control, air and water recycling, and radiation shielding, I'd be pretty damn impressed they did that and excited to see what they do with like. Metal.

Fat Horse No. 19

It’s the year of the horse and I’ve always been a horse girl at heart, so I’m finally taking advantage of the excuse to fill the world with fat little horses! These felted friends are about the size (and shape!) of an apple, and if you happen to have any apples to share I’m sure they’d help you out! When I started making these, I knew I absolutely had to make the Lascaux cave painting horse. There’s no more classic fat horse in the world!

Wanted to share this amazing group commission I got done by the lovely @gewska of one of my dnd parties to celebrate the campaign having gone on for 5 years and we've been in game stressed the whole while because our dm is amazing, so I wanted to get a moment of everyone just relaxing together out on the road, not having to worry about looming interplanar threats or hot bisexual villains

There's a quick rundown of the characters below if folk want more info on this lovely group of idiots

So left to right we have

Morty - Assimar monk/warlock to a goddess of fervent dance. 1 half of the negative int club and default holder of the groups common sense/braincell. Made everyone think he was human for about a year despite bleeding gold and spontaneously catching fire one time after being covered in spiders

Wyrt - Half Elf Sorcerer/warlock to the embodiment of death. they're a glass blower/firm believer in unions. has an emotional support hell hound and a habit of completely bypassing combats by casting suggestion at the most clutch of times

Trist - my dumbass drow ranger/rogue. secretly a nerd for bad romantasy novels, autistic about writing supplies and legally can't roll below a 20 perception. Other half of the negative int crew and not allowed near the braincell because they keep touching cursed items

Zetari - resident Half elf wizard and war crime collector/sugar baby to a watery bitch named nemaris that won't let them die. Has the highest friendly fire damage by a large margin because of ice knife and poor throwing abilities

Randall - Human cleric to lathander, constantly calls the party heroes and thinks we can do no wrong, treats Morty like a good role model. Used to provide aftercare at the church sanctioned orgies.

Laqita - Paladin of mystra and genuinely best girl, at least 2 party members have a secret pact to murder anyone that hurts her emotionally. Hates horses, but loves large lizards. Accidentally became a kuo-toan god for a bit and made mystra super jealous.

Adherant - Cleric to Lliira. second part of the war crime duo and government abolitionist. we know nothing about them apart from them being a spirit inhabiting a once dead orc who just wants to bring joy, they single handedly blew up a demon run factory, they are incredibly literal and made friends with a normal dog named Arthur

to clarify:

when considering the sexual violence against trans women, it's important to remember that "people only view us sexually" does not mean the same thing as "people only find us attractive". it means "people can only conceptualize of our existence within a sexual light" because that's how the majority of our coverage in media has been tinged in the past century. as a result of the chaste and patriarchal nature of modern capitalism, gender and sexuality are inseparable in much public discourse by virtue of propaganda, and as a result, a trans woman is seen as sexual because efforts towards projecting specifically femininity is only categorized as sexual. and when paired with the uncharitable perception of "man", that propaganda can often evolve how people view us directly into "sexual threat" anywhere, for any reason. i could be in the freezer aisle of costco looking down at the ground while i push my cart and i'd still get dirty looks for wearing a dress (this has happened).

when i say "they're either jerking off or sharpening a knife", i mean we're either viewed sexually, or as sexually threatening, in almost all scenarios.
