Something I notice way too frequently. Dear white people: Is your darkest character the villain? Is your darkest character the most flirtatious/sexualized? Is you darkest character the most violent? Is your darkest character the depicted as being dumber than the other? Is your darkest character the only one who smokes or has smoking one of their one traits? Does you darkest character have more than one personality trait? Is your darkest character a supporting character to the lighter lead?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, change that! And become a better writer! And person! Don't fall into racist stereotypes!

I think some people are scared of darker skin and black features. Y'all make someone ambiguously brown and pat yourselves on the back but bitches got wavy almost straight hair and a pointy nose. And a lot of whiteys like to make the excuse of "oh I don't wanna get it wrong!" fucking do you research. Look at a black person. Look at a BLACK person, not just a mixed race lightskin person, look at ALL black people. And what the fuck are you gonna do wrong? Accidentally make a racist caricature? Stop being scared to include more black people in your art. Take this darker skin and flat nose and go

And fucking widen your horizons. Like, nothing's WRONG with looking at a white man or man with more Eurocentric features and going "oh he's handsome!" but there is way too many people picking out JUST the guys with eurocentric features and going "he's so handsome!" And let me stop gendering them cus it's for fucking everyone. Quick to jump on a black person with a small nose and big eyes and say "oh they're so beautiful!" but someone with a big face, big lips, and big nose comes around and y'all shut your eyes. When white people get mad you don't call them out on their racism sooner, I need you to understand that you are above me. It's hard to call out someone the first time because our fear of being discriminated against even further. And when you get mad afterwards for not letting you know sooner and being suspicious if I'm telling the truth because I took so long to gain the courage to speak out, it further proves to me that it's hard to speak out at all because of reactions like this.

When a person of color comes to you a month later saying "hey this thing you did back then was actually really insensitive." Don't make a big deal out of it thinking they don't trust you or are holding a grudge. Please take into consideration that it's very hard for us to speak out sometimes, especially in majority white spaces. Just listen please

The worst thing is seeing white people be comforted for not knowing how to draw black people like "don't stress over not knowing how to draw minorities cus it's actually SOOOOO hard and it's okay if you draw them wrong". Look here, it's okay to not be good at it at first because admittedly the art world kinda sucks at pushing how to draw black people and minorities better and everyone has different upbringings, but Jesus fucking Christ if you're white ass starts crying over how hard it is to draw black hair or something and you show that people are comforting you cus of it, you're just alienating the audience you're trying to represent. Just acknowledge you should get better and keep it in your sketchbook for a little bit before coming back with you're improvement. Please

Capitalism in regards to children's content fucking sucks. Because people aren't making kids content because they want to make good content for kids, their making it for kids cus it's easier to monetize and make money off of. Like, with a platform like youtube where you can put whatever you want on your channel without censorship, you're your own boss, it's really easy to make content for kids that major networks like disney and cartoon network aren't gonna let you. But because youtube's algorithm and what gets clicks and capitalism and sweet sweet monetization, all the children content on youtube looks like "POPPY PLAYTIME SLIME EGG SURPRISE" and it fucking sucks. Kid's deserve well made content and under capitalism is not where they're gonna get it

Random thoughts at 11pm but it's fucked up how the internet tries and takes away from a person's humanity. And even KIDS humanity. Like, there is no room for mistakes. Because if you make a mistake and your on the internet then people are going to call you out and expect your life to be ruined.

I think we have to understand that sometimes mistakes effect other people, sometimes they affect them really badly. And it's sad but there is nothing we can do to fix it after the fact. All we can do is say sorry, try to make up for it anyway that we can, and improve on ourself.

Yes we have to hold people accountable but we have to leave room for someone to grow.

And like it's worrying, because sometimes I see call-out posts go around for people as young as 16 and man, they're frontal lobe is still developing! I'm 16 and my frontal lobe is still developing!!! If I fuck up I don't expect people to make call-out posts, I expect people to tell me and be patient with me about what I did wrong cus fuck man! I'm 16! And I think people should do that with other people, even if they are older.

This is not me saying you have to be responsible about every person fucking up. Take care of yourself first. But I think some of us need a little more empathy as we encounter things like this. Like if you see someone trying to improve and you say they haven't because you bring up something they did in the past that they regret, then maybe you're being a problem here. We're all human and we make mistakes big or small. Just leave some room to grow

I think some kids shouldn't be on the internet because they aren't mentally ready or stable to even be interacting with strangers on here. Especially, with the trend of being over familiar with people who are your mutuals or not even. Like, I think y'all should learn some boundaries first and some life lessons before stepping onto somewhere like tumblr dot com.
