The Ballad of Lou Faron

I started work on this, in earnest, this morning, and I wanted to share with y’all a proof of concept.

“I’m… just some kid who ran away from home,” I told him, shrugging uncomfortably. “I don’t know what else to tell you. Do you want to hear that my dad’s a piece of shit? Or that I really hope I managed to frame him for my murder on the way out the door?”

The Deku tree actually laughed, lifting me higher in the air as the leaves overhead shivered and shook. “Oh, there are several previous versions of you who would be quite pleased with that course of action, but I expected it was only a matter of time before you were pushed too far. Let us start with something simpler, shall we? What do I call you, old friend?”

My name. The Deku tree wanted my name. I wanted nothing more than to bury my name. I hadn’t given much thought to what identity I would create for myself, if I was leaving my old one behind. I couldn’t very well enlist under the name of Eloise Harkinian, if I thought a military tribunal was going to try my father for my murder. I would need another name, and it would need to be something I could somehow create an identity around.

“Lou,” I told the tree after thinking through my options. “You can call me Lou Faron.”

When we started Season 6, you were one and a half. This season brought new challenges as you started to walk and talk. You were mobile and wobbly. Set is not the safest place for one year olds, so I was constantly chasing you to avoid you hurting yourself or damaging expensive equipment. We also learned the names of all the cast. Well, their stage names, anyway. You had no idea at this age that this was pretend. We learned the names of Mama Lou (this is an amazing story which I have dedicated a page to later). Daddy Peter, Grandpa Tim, Grandpa Jack, Auntie Amy, Ty and Georgie. You were so well mannered and followed along with the lines that were being spoken which made you an excellent addition to the scene. This surprised me because I could rarely get you to nap in the trailer, so lots of times you were doing scenes cranky. You were always fed as I felt like I was constantly feeding you in between scenes. So tired but never hungry.
