the more i think about them, the more i believe that giyuutan makes a whole lot more sense than any other kny pairing, and if people didn't overreact to the age gap or treat it like it's a smut ship they would've been a whole lot more popular and there'd be essays about it.
if tanjirou was a girl giyuu's protectiveness of him would be seen as an act of courting by everyone, just look at the author's pattern of depicting the desire to protect someone as a romantic motivation.
the parallels between giyuu + tanjirou / yoriichi + sumiyoshi would not go largely unnoticed as they do now. their connection and the way it sprung the story to life would be better analyzed, instead of the generic "water brothers" & "retirement plan" content that's being made about them.
not to mention, the narrative of the akaza fight would be read differently. tanjirou may have reminded akaza of keizo but it was giyuu's willingness to sacrifice his life protecting tanjirou that reminded the demon that he too once had someone he vowed to protect-- who was his wife!
what I'm saying is that fujoshis are great at analysis, and we (i) need that for giyuutan.
