My son is home sick, and we just got a covid test today, although there's also a good chance that it could be mono (the dr. says he's seen 4 cases of that in the past week). My county school board is BAT SHIT INSANE and refuses to mandate masks, even though students and teachers are dropping like flies. There is no virtual option unless you chose it last spring, and they don't even have a way for him to learn over the next 2-6 weeks (once he's feeling better) beyond getting written lists of assignments. This is my special ed kid, who has ADD and needs accomodations, and teaching himself from items on a list isn't happening.
I'm really, VERY tempted to just tell him to take a year off of school and like, get a job somewhere they wear masks. (He's 16, so he could.)
Meanwhile, this is the shit parents are pulling in my county right now, whilst the Board refuses to even put COVID on their meeting agendas. Anyway, I saw this dumbass tweet and had to laugh at the woman's picture, because isn't that exactly who you'd expect to be running around saying her kids are too beautiful for masks and anyway, she's done her own research and figured out that COVID is a hoax.
God forbid they try to mask the kids!
