aria x jake - criminally underrated. pretty sure it ends with jake going "oh i definitely deserve better than that" when she goes off to reunite with her abuser. jake and aria are so sad because she clearly likes him but she sees every single thing they dont have in common as proof that ezra was the one. what. thats so sad. jake is one of arias longer term boyfriends and he was kinda cool. he taught her self defense. they were cute. endgame material? no but it wasnt bad. 7/10

noel x aria - done SO dirty. how the fuck was noel in the wrong for blackmailing ezra. he was right for that and he genuinely seemed concerned for aria's safety and was even prepared to help her get through it. then the writers went NO HES EVIL so we're gonna make him evil mwahhahahahaaha. plus they end up together in the books! 9/10, shouldve had a bigger love story

aria x wes - i liiiiked wesley and aria. literally every single relationship was made for an alt for ezra or whatever accidentally making a healthier/better romance. though the main gimmick wes and aria have as a pairing is he's ezras little brother who is the same age as aria and is hiding from his mom. they had some chemistry though. why do i feel like lucy hale and guy from wizards have been in something together though 6/10

aria x brody? guy from the college trip - rare aria having a normal relationship/fling moment. i loved them fucking around all weekend while shes in the middle of a valid crashout, 8/10

aria x clark - cute but he was a cop and a liar 4/10

aria x andrew - random as fuck but you know what? still a better love story than ezria. i dont remember much about them all i remember is aria saying it was definitely andrew who kidnapped them and their relationship ends with his speech "the dump has trash rosewood has you" to the girls. i remember more andrew and spencer than aria and andrew lol 3/10 i dont remember any good parts

aria x liam - they were really boring together but LOVE AND LIGHT TO LIAM. poor sweet liam you were a great boyfriend and funny as fuck sometimes. of all of the time jump boyfriends you were the best. my favourite episode with liam is when he's crashing out about advising his and ezra's book in s7 right after their breakup. 7/10 ship, 9.5/10 for liam

aria x holden - they were never really introduced as a ship he was just her weird friend who she fake dated for half a season but im including them because THE POTENTIAL. idgaf about romance, we barely saw this friendship again (aria always finds a male friend and immediately stops hanging with them, aria and caleb were a good duo too) but aria and holden were always kinda awesome because holden is such an interesting character (not extremely complex or deep but he was interesting) and so underutilized in the plot. 8/10 more holden and his wild line deliveries more aria holden bestie hour

now its time for my favourite half headcanon half canon ship

jason x aria - im feral for jason and aria as a romance. hey how come they were written like that. how come in another life they for sure would have ended up together and yeah he isnt age appropriate either but damn i loved them. the reveal in s7 that jason and aria had a whole ass relationship during the time jump is my roman empire. so this intense situationship from season 2 eventually came back during the time jump OH OKAY. plus i love jason as a character as fucked as he is so really i just want him to date someone who isnt secretly his sister. jason's just a better choice also. i have ten million comparisons and reasons to have this as my choice for aria's endgame. does he have fucked up lore yeah but come on. 12/10 i will go down with this ship IM RIGHT

edit: yeah ok jaria is pretty bad jason is bad bad bad super creepy but the show literally fucking glossed over it so

Rewatching PLL and I cannot get over how much they made Noel look like a jerk, despite him not being a complete one. Okay, yes, he definitely had a lot of issues, as do all the characters, but his entire rivalry with Ezra came from a place of care for Aria. The fact that his first reaction to seeing her with another man wasn’t “She’s a cheating piece of shit” but rather “this is a grown man and she’s being manipulated” isn’t talked about enough.
