Vertebrata:  Also known as “Vertebrates” which means with backbone and has a notochord or a spinal cord. There are five phyla: Pisces, Amphibian, Reptilian, Aves and Mammalian, which are the mammals. Ex. Human, Fish

Invertebrata: Also known as “Invertebrates” which, animals do not have back bones, spinal cord or a notochord. Both Vertebrates and Invertebrates descend from Kingdom Animalia, the animal kingdom, and plants descend from Kingdom Plantae. There are ten phyla: Protozoa, Porifera, Cnidaria, Platyhelminthes, Nemathelminthes, Annelida, Rotifera, Arthropoda, Mollusca and Echinodermata. Ex. Amoeba, Rotifer

Invertebrates:

Protozoa- Protozoa, or Protozoans, are small bacteria organisms who are uni-cellular, meaning “One-celled” organisms. Amoeba and Plasmodiums are parasitic, meaning parasites, which refers to “dependent”. Protozoans are microscopic, meaning “cannot be seen by our naked eye”.
