I hate seeing ai ads that will "create fanfiction" for you. I hate ai ads in general, but espically those. I think more and more people are forgetting just how actually creative WE are and the effects it has. I'll just use a fandom I like as an example: The marauders fandom. Like.. We created a whole ass world for them pretty much and we all get excited and happy over each other's headcanons. There's community, you know? People getting to share their thoughts together and the end result is an entire tag for it and characters getting added in like it's a whole new story, and it's so amazing. Like no girl.. You don't need ai, WE did that as a community of people. Or another example is my bestfriend @emuririri having a silly headcanon about sonar being a mini bat and that sparked an entire community on his tiktok from a drawing he made. Ai could never amount to the same feeling as that.
Ai also has a very specific way of writing where it just steals what we're doing anyways. Besides, a big part of what makes fanfiction fun is seeing everyone's individual writing styles and getting to pick your favorite writers based off their energy and writing style. You'll basically just be reading the same style and phrasing over and over and over. It's JUST like how ALL the character ai bots act. None of them are unique and all end up acting and saying the same things. It's fun to look foward to what someone will write instead of just having it at your hand and have it feel lifeless and void of excitement to write. I can't stress enough how important I think community is- espically since it's a safe place for a lot of people and there's just nothing exciting about ai. It's interesting for us to know bits and pieces about each other because we're brought together by a special interest. Ai can say it has whatever life, but we know it's not true.
A lot of people also don't realize that your writing doesn't HAVE to be like.. Author winning material. Just writing down your silly thoughts, any thoughts will let you find your people. You don't have to be so creative to write oh.. Idk.. A 10k word fanfiction. I can't even do that, I can't even properly describe what a character is doing because I'm best with just writing out headcanons and what they're saying instead of doing, but I still make do. It doesn't have to be a list of headcanons either- it can just be one silly sentance like, "I headcanon yusuke kitagawa can speak some french" and some people will agree and you can be apart of a community.
Destroying the environment really isn't worth it when there are actual people who can write a fanfic with actual emotion and you can just FEEL the love and consideration put into it. Or if you're a smut reader, you can feel their freak, whatever, you do you, girl right? Whatever you like to read on AO3, tumblr, wattpad, ect. Gurl trust, I use to like AI too when I was around 14 or 15 and all my friends were using c.ai and being silly, but it just gets repetitive and boring (and I didnt realize at the time the bad effect it had on the environment), and I imagine thats how ai fics feel. It feels so much better to just go into my notes app and put a lock on something I don't want others reading or finding friends you can roleplay with (THAT WILL GIVE YOU ACTUAL UNIQUE RESPONSES. Fucking poly ai ads saying "oh our bots give unique and captivating responses" gurl shut up no you don't, you're just like chai and c.ai BECAUSE YOU ALL STEAL FROM FANFIC WRITERS!!!) Like I have so much fun role playing as my ocs with my bestfriend in a stupid roblox game, ai could never replace him.
Wouldn't you prefer feeling excited and happy knowing another real life person shares your thoughts on a character or story rather than AI just agreeing with you and blandly giving it to you?
And if you do genuinely have a problem with any creativity, then I beg of you to just ask a real life person to write or draw something for you. In this time, commisions are needed more than ever for artists of all kind. Trust me the excitement and happiness you get finding out someone wrote or drew something for you is way better than ai slop.
