(Instead of waiting for an ask for the headcanon meme, I’m just going to take a moment - or several - to talk about Alana’s mom)
In no verse do they have a good, or even cordial, relationship. Neither are to blame for this; it’s the sadly natural result of the climate of fear Thalia raised Alana in. In Dragon Age, that fear comes from knowing that any of them, at any point, can be killed without repercussions under human law. In the Harry Potter universe, well, it’s the war.
I realize that Thalia can come off as a terrible parent in what little content I have for her currently, and I want to correct that here: I really feel that her way of dealing with that amount of fear, while maybe not the healthiest, doesn’t come from a place of malice. *cough* walburga black *cough*
She pushes for her children to be constantly improving, because it never leaves her that at any moment, their skills may be tested, and worst case scenario, any slip-up, any failure, means death. Alana, of course, doesn’t take well at all to any of it. In Harry potter verse, this strain eventually leads to Thalia and Aaron’s divorce.
When Leah/Laleala comes into the picture, Alana struggles with imitating Thalia, especially after Voldemort’s return/fleeing Orlais (well, it’s not until after leaving Orlais that Alana finds her, but you know). I think, though, that Aenor/Aaron’s influence softened Alana’s instinct to push Leah as Thalia had done.
