I had a terrible day yesterday, remembering that it was our first Thanksgiving without Jack. I cried all the way home & then some. When we got home, i laid down, so Justin & Millie came to lay down with me while i was sad. This is how we fell asleep, with Jack's ashes & collar on the bed between us. I love my family so much. I have such wonderful friends & family, but these are the top members of my fan club. They keep me together, & they know how to support me when i fall apart. For me, Thanksgiving happens 24/7. Can you believe Booboo is SIXTEEN today??? She still plays like she did when i found her on Petfinder & adopted her from a Huntsville vet 14 years ago! She & her sister, Jam, are OG fam to me. As i navigated my twenties & thirties with untreated bipolar disorder, things were so tumultuous & scary. While i had friends, there are times my depression would get so bad, I'd become a recluse - they were all i had. They & Jack kept me alive. They gave me 3 tiny, furry, unconditional loving machine reasons to live. Hundreds, possibly thousands of hours of tears have been cried into her fur. She is a Mama's Girl, but she's also a lap whore. Her favorite foods, that she can never have, are french fries & popcorn. She didn't care for Jack, & it ain't looking good for Millie either. The only other animal she will even remotely tolerate is her sister. She has early signs of kidney failure, but it doesn't slow her at all. While she sleeps a little more these days, she is still her opinionated, annoyed little old lady self. It's been such an experience to grow older with these guys. I've frequently been reminded this year that I'm so lucky to be their mom. Happy birthday, Shug.
