Today Monkey turns 7! It doesn't feel all that long ago that my (not so) little Monkey (all 8lb 5oz of him) entered the world.. From the moment I craddled you in my arms in the birthing pool, my entire world changed and life was complete. Monkey you are the reason that I smile, the reason that I laugh. You are the reason that I cry, the reason that I sigh. You are my happy place. You are my frustration at times when our stubborn ways clash. You make my heart beat and sometimes my heart break. Now that you are 7, you have discarded your love and affection of Paw Patrol and Mickey Mouse. Life is now very much, all about sport, music and computer games. Your independence shines brightly. You have your own unique style that I never want you to lose. You have the determination to always do your best. You are strong willed, yet you have such a caring and sensitive soul. You have so much love to give and always see the best in people. You are selfless and so loving. I love the way that you notice the little details, you know when I'm sad or unwell and you give me the best hugs to cheer me up. I love the stories and pictures you create for me at school. I love the silly games that we play and the songs that we sing. I know that the next phase in your life is fast approaching, when your Mama isn't needed as much and you'd rather do things on your own. I know that I may not be "cool" or able to recite the plethora of Pokemon that you can. I may not have a clue, what Minecraft is, let alone know how to play it. I may be terrible at playing football. I also know that one day you'll be too grown-up for your Mama's kisses and snuggles. Probably embarrassed by it too. You've moved onto an affection towards Minecraft and Lego and one day you will move onto a different special someone in your life—and it won't be me. But for now, I am your special someone.
