Mamhead House
Mamhead House is located in the county of Devon in Exeter, England. There has been a home on this site for centuries and ownership of the property has passed through many distinguished families, including royalty. The current Georgian house was built in 1833 for Robert Newman and his bride. The castle boasts five main reception rooms with elaborate plaster ceilings, five additional reception rooms, galleried halls, two kitchens, a gym, sixteen bedrooms, eight bathrooms, and an attic that contains eleven additional bedrooms with two bathrooms. The 164-acre property has a sunken Italian garden, terraces, a lily pond, a sundial, a Salvin fountain, a two-bedroom bungalow, and many outbuildings, including a 19thcentury red sandstone castle built in the baronial Gothic style. The castle has sea views of the Devon coastline. The estate was sold to Dawlish College for Boys in 1963, and acquired by a private company in 1988, but it returned to private use in 2000 and was purchased by a group of overseas investors. Mamhead House estate is currently for sale for roughly eleven and a half million U.S. dollars. #Castles #MamheadHouse #MamheadHouseCastle #England #Devonshire #Devon #Exeter
