Man Tools Rising in the East
Working diligently making fences around noon on the flat Louisiana Cajun prairie not a breeze anywhere in our zone of proximity
Two men sweating profusely seriously dehydrating needing liquids
Nothing moving or flying on ground or in the air
Unusual stillness with all of the life alive on the prairie
It was as if it were just the two of us alive on this day
Almost a bizarre Twilight Zonal episodic episode, eerie like waiting for one last mega gulp of breath until we died a horrid death where we burned from the inside out
Miraculously our pores uncorked and we started spouting water like hoses exploding
Our bodies hydrating, salty water
We looked at each other remembering the fresh water lake, Lac Frais, Fresh Lake, about a ten minute hike to the East of us
Both of us now drenched stripped leaving only our cowboy boots intact
Hiking quickly to the lake we kicked off our boots, ripped off our socks and luxuriated in the fresh cool water of the lake
Neither of us spoke of our man tools rising in the East as we dove into the H2O
